Cytoarchitecture of the Organ of Corti

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1964
The author has used special preparation techniques and phase contrast microscopy for the study of the normal and the pathologically changed cochlea of guinea pigs and squirrel monkeys. A short description of this technique of making surface preparations of the organ of Corti will be given, as well as a presentation of figures showing the outstanding ...

Hydrops of the organ of Corti

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2016
The authors would like to confirm a fluid pathway from the scala tympani to the organ of Corti, and to observe its morphological changes.A staining solution for succinic dehydrogenase was perfused with phenazine methosulfate in the scala tympani of living guinea pigs (n = 5) under deep anesthesia.

The Development of the Organ of Corti in the Mouse

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1965
Phase contrast and electron microscopy was used to study the maturation of the organ of Corti in mice. The hair cells, supporting cells, and afferent nerves and nerve endings can be identified at birth among the rows of columnar cells that constitute the mouse organ of Corti at birth.

Oncomodulin is abundant in the organ of Corti

Hearing Research, 1997
A small, acidic Ca(2+)-binding protein (CBP-15) was recently detected in extracts of the mammalian auditory receptor organ, the organ of Corti [Senarita et al. (1995) Hear. Res. 90, 169-175]. N-terminal sequence data for CBP-15 [Thalmann et al. (1995) Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun. 215, 142-147] implied membership in the parvalbumin family and possible

Permeability of the Organ of Corti

Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1973
The technique of fluorochromasia has been used to study cellular permeability of the inner ear tissues. The hair cells of the organ of Corti show variations in permeability which are dependent on the previous history of in vivo exposure to physiologically normal levels of sound. Permeability was also sensitive to oxygen deprivation.

The innervation of the organ of Corti in the rat

Hearing Research, 1993
To date our knowledge of the baso-apical distribution of the afferent and efferent nerve fibers innervating the organ of Corti is only fragmentary. This study makes an effort to lay the basis for a comprehensive analysis of cochlear innervation. Using a quantitative electronmicroscopic method, the fiber density of all cochlear fibers along the entire ...

Organe de Corti

Morphologie, 2017

Serotonergic Innervation of the Organ of Corti

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2000
The olivocochlear efferent system of the mammalian cochlea, which is divided into two lateral and medial bundles, contains numerous neuroactive substances (acetylcholine, GABA, dopamine, enkephalins, dynorphins and CGRP). These have been located at the brainstem in neurons belonging to the lateral superior olive (lateral efferent system) or in neurons ...
