Atomic Layer Deposition Processes: Versatile Platforms for Engineering ZnO‐Chitosan Biointerfaces
Vapour phase metalation (VPM), multiplied pulsed vapour phase infiltration (MPI), and O2 plasma‑enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) tailor Zn–chitosan (Zn‑CS) films. PEALD improves wettability and biocompatibility. MPI enhances semiconductor behavior. Antiseptic selectivity: VPM → E. coli; MPI → H. pylori.

OCTN2 (SLC22A5) is an organic cation/carnitine transporter belonging to the solute carrier transporters (SLC) family. OCTN2 is ubiquitously expressed and its presence was shown in various brain cells, including the endothelial cells forming blood-brain barrier, where it was mainly detected at abluminal membrane and in proximity of tight junctions (TJ).

Regulation of Transporters for Organic Cations by High Glucose
Endogenous positively charged organic substances, including neurotransmitters and cationic uremic toxins, as well as exogenous organic cations such as the anti-diabetic medication metformin, serve as substrates for organic cation transporters (OCTs) and ...

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Nanostructured surfaces for sensing heavy metals and radionuclides in aqueous systems [PDF]
An interdisciplinary approach was used to engineer a range of nanostructured surfaces with specificities for a number of radioactive waste contaminants that are typical of low level legacy contamination at sites across the UK. Specifically, analytes 238/

Modulation of metformin transporters could affect its pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics. The effects of naringenin on the renal tubular Organic Cation Transporter 1 (OCT1) and 2 (OCT2) protein expressions and subsequently the metformin clearance in diabetic rats are hereby investigated. Male Sprague Dawley rats were divided into 7 groups.
