Single–Atom Iron Sites Enable Enhanced Arsenic Removal From Water Through Synergistic Adsorption–Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single–atom iron anchored on nitrogen–doped porous biochar exhibited ultra–efficient performance, exceptional environmental resilience, and integrated adsorption–oxidation functionality. The multifunctional architecture of the support and the unparalleled reactivity of single–atom iron underpinned the cooperative adsorption and oxidation of As(III ...

System comparison study and on-farm trials on organic cotton in India [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Despite the high demand for sound data on the agronomic, ecological and economic performance of organic agriculture in developing countries, systematic comparison of organic and conventional farming systems has not so far been carried out.

Influence of Compost Amendments on the Composition of Pistachio Nuts in Young Pistachio Trees (Pistacia vera L.)

open access: yesFoods
New fertilization strategies in pistachio cultivation are necessary to reduce the environmental impact of mineral fertilization. The influence of organic fertilization strategies, compost and compost tea, on the growth, yield, and chemical composition of

SDF‐1 Attenuates Oocyte Quality Decline During Reproductive Aging Through Autophagy‐Enhanced Stress Granule Scavenging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SDF‐1 levels decline significantly with maternal aging. Exogenous supplementation restores meiotic spindle morphology, chromosomal alignment, and mitochondrial function while reducing oxidative stress in aged oocytes. Mechanistically, SDF‐1 enhances autophagic activity to clear accumulated stress granules, thereby rescuing fertilization competence and ...

Manure fertilization for soil organic matter maintenance and its effects upon crops and the environment, evaluated in a long-term trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The effects upon soil organic matter and crop yield of applying farmyard manure, both with and without biodynamic preparations, as compared to treatments receiving mineral fertilizer (and straw) have been studied in a field trial starting in 1980.

Long Noncoding RNA PCALRx Interacts with Pyruvate Carboxylase to Drive Multi‐Organ Developmental Toxicity in Zebrafish Embryos Exposed to Amoxicillin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Embryonic amoxicillin exposure disrupts multi‐organ development in zebrafish larvae through a lncRNA–metabolic enzyme regulatory axis. PCALRx associates with pyruvate carboxylase, promotes PC protein ubiquitination, and impairs mitochondrial energy metabolism, while vitamin B1 partially restores PC‐centered metabolic function and developmental outcomes.

Restoring soil quality and root morphology of peanut under simulated topsoil erosion: effects of fertilization strategies in a controlled study

open access: yesScientific Reports
Soil erosion and deposition are critical processes affecting soil quality and crop productivity, particularly in hilly agricultural regions. Topsoil removal reduces soil fertility and degrades root development, threatening sustainable crop production ...

Effects of fertilization measures on soil fertility and crop yields in drylands of the North China Plain: a meta-analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
This study aims to quantify the effects of three fertilization patterns—“chemical fertilizer alone,” “organic fertilizer alone,” and “mixed application of organic and inorganic fertilizers”—on soil fertility and crop yields.
