Visible Light Communications towards 5G [PDF]
5G networks have to offer extremely high capacity for novel streaming applications. One of the most promising approaches is to embed large numbers of co-operating small cells into the macro-cell coverage area.

A UV‐crosslinkable soft anisotropic conductive film (ACF) provides high‐resolution, room‐temperature electrical interfacing. Upon UV exposure, azide crosslinkers within the ACF matrix form covalent bonds with a wide range of C–H‐containing materials, resulting in interfaces that are both mechanically durable and electrically reliable.

Scale-up chemical synthesis of thermally-activated delayed fluorescence emitters based on the dibenzothiophene-S,S-dioxide core [PDF]
We report a procedure to linearly scale-up the synthesis of 2,8-bis(3,6-di-tert-butyl-9H-carbazol-9-yl)dibenzothiophene-S,S-dioxide (compound 4) and 2,8-bis(10H-phenothiazin-10-yl)dibenzothiophene-S,S-dioxide (compound 5) using Buchwald-Hartwig cross ...

Strain‐Activated Photo‐Dehalogenation Unlocks Low‐Energy One and Two‐Photon 3D Microfabrication
5,14‐NMI‐Cz acts, conversely to its 7,10‐NMI‐Cz(7,10‐'dibromo‐2‐(2,6‐diisopropylphenyl)‐1H‐benzo[lmn]carbazolo[9,1‐bc][2,8]phenanthroline‐1,3(2H)‐dione) counterpart, as modular photoinitiator with panchromatic photoactivity, featuring a weak C–Br bond from geometric strain for efficient Type I & II initiation. These studies demonstrate applicability of

Optical emission near a high-impedance mirror [PDF]
Solid state light emitters rely on metallic contacts with high sheet-conductivity for effective charge injection. Unfortunately, such contacts also support surface plasmon polariton (SPP) excitations that dissipate optical energy into the metal and limit

End-emitting nano organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) with directional output
We report a new strategy for the design of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), where nanoscale OLEDs are fabricated into a large-area periodic array with their emission propagating along the active layer and being coupled out through the end facets. A

Optical anisotropy and light outcoupling in OLEDs [PDF]
Organic Light Emitting Diodes consist of a stack of thin layers that have a high refractive index and may have anisotropic optical properties. The emission from such a planar structure depends on the layering of the OLED, the anisotropy of the different ...
