Multigramme synthesis and asymmetric dihydroxylation of a 4-fluorobut-2E-enoate
Esters of crotonic acid were brominated on a multigramme scale using a free radical procedure. A phase transfer catalysed fluorination transformed these species to the 4-fluorobut-2E-enoates reproducibly and at scale (48–53%, ca. 300 mmol).

Why add another catalyst when the product itself holds the power to catalyze its own formation? Autocatalysis in synthetic chemistry enhances reaction efficiency and uncovers novel catalytic behavior across both closed‐shell and open‐shell systems, expanding reactivity and enabling innovative design strategies.

Organocatalytic asymmetric fluorination of α-chloroaldehydes involving kinetic resolution
In a previous study it was shown that the enantioselective α-fluorination of racemic α-chloroaldehydes with a chiral organocatalyst yielded the corresponding α-chloro-α-fluoroaldehydes with high enantioselectivity.

Nickel‐Catalyzed Reductive Cross‐Coupling of Xanthate Esters With Aryl and Alkenyl Iodides
A nickel‐catalyzed reductive cross‐coupling of xanthate esters and aryl/alkenyl iodides is reported without the need for separate activators for the xanthate esters. The reaction utilizes a relatively low catalyst loading. Diarylmethanes with a good functional group variety can thus be synthesized indirectly from the corresponding benzylic alcohols ...

Background: 1,1-Difluoroalkenes cannot only be used as valuable precursors for organic synthesis, but also act as bioisosteres for enzyme inhibitors. Among various methods for their preparation, the carbonyl olefination with difluoromethylene phosphonium

To develop recycling processes for lithium‐ion batteries, wastewater treatment for the removal of organic compounds originating from the electrolyte was investigated using electro‐oxidation and ozonation. Based on the results, this paper proposes a process which combines these two methods to remove alcohols derived from the solvent and additives ...

The Diarylprolinol Silyl Ethers: After 20 Years Still Opening New Doors in Asymmetric Catalysis
Catalysis Rules! The year 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of diarylprolinol silyl ethers in asymmetric organocatalysis. During the first decade after their discovery, these catalysts have been established as one of the most versatile tools in aminocatalysis. Although now considered mature, recent years have witnessed renewed innovation.

Organo-Fluorine Compounds as Artificial Blood Substitute
The rate of fluoro-carbon compounds as artificial substitute for blood has been discussed. Blood is a complicated body fluid. At first glance it seems impossible that such a complicated body fluid can be replaced by artificial synthesized fluids or any substitute for this can be synthesized.
