Restoration ecology in conflict along the Colorado front range

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum) is a challenge to restoration in western North America. It attracts the attention of academic and government research scientists, weed managers, and chemical companies. Attempts to control it cause conflicts among these groups.

Polyfluorinated systems resulting from free radical addition reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The first part of this work was to synthesise partially fluorinated reactive compounds and then to study their reactivity towards nucleophiles and electrophiles.

Facilitating the transmetalation step with aryl-zincates in nickel-catalyzed enantioselective arylation of secondary benzylic halides

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Fluoroalkyl groups are widely found in pharmaceutical products. Here, the authors report a highly enantioselective nickel-catalyzed cross coupling method for the construction of fluoromethylated stereogenic centers via a highly reactive zincate species ...

Sustainability Assessment of Alternative Methods for Destruction of Per‐ and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in Water

open access: yesRemediation Journal, Volume 36, Issue 2, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT Per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are persistent environmental contaminants widely recognized for their resistance to degradation and potential adverse health effects. The treatment of PFAS‐contaminated aqueous media (e.g., drinking water, wastewater, and leachate) has been extensively studied in the published literature; however, the

Biosynthesis of fluoroacetate and 4-fluorothreonine in Streptomyces cattleya [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
This thesis describes results on the biosynthesis of fluoroacetate and 4-fluorothreonine by the bacterium Streptomyces cattleya. Exploratory (^14)C-radiolabelling experiments, designed to determine the relative incorporation of a range of metabolites ...

Flow‐Enabled Direct Photochemical Functionalization of Aryl Fluorides

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 13, 2 July 2026.
We report a simple, catalyst‐free method to activate strong carbon–fluorine bonds using UV light in flow. A 3D‐printed microreactor enables controlled irradiation, giving selective functionalization of fluoroarenes. The method forms CC and CP bonds, works on gram scale, and avoids additives or tailored catalysts.

Synthesis of Acyl Fluorides Using the Tribromoisocyanuric Acid (TBCA)/Triphenylphosphine/HF.Pyridine

open access: yesIsrael Journal of Chemistry, Volume 66, Issue 4, July 2026.
The present contribution reports an efficient Appel‐type reaction for the synthesis of acyl fluorides from their corresponding carboxylic acids using the tribromoisocyanuric acid/triphenylphosphine/HF.pyridine system in up to 69% isolated yields. The methodology tolerates a variety of carboxylic acids. The usefulness of our methodology was demonstrated

Fluorinative Olefin Bond Functionalization of Selected Functionalized Cycloalkenes

open access: yesIsrael Journal of Chemistry, Volume 66, Issue 4, July 2026.
Palladium‐catalyzed ring olefin bond difunctionalization, through functional group and substrate‐dependent arylfluorination, of selected functionalized cycloalkenes has been studied. Palladium‐catalyzed ring olefin bond difunctionalization through arylfluorination of selected five‐, six‐, and seven‐membered functionalized cycloalkenes has been studied.
