Prognostic value of blood lactate levels in predicting cardiac adverse events in patients presenting with drug intoxication

open access: yesHong Kong Journal of Emergency Medicine, Volume 32, Issue 4, August 2025.
Abstract Background Acute drug intoxication (ADI) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality, often leading to complications such as cardiac adverse events (CAEs). Lactate levels are widely used to indicate anaerobic metabolism and hypoperfusion, with known prognostic values in various clinical settings.

Estimating the efficacy and plume reach of semiochemical‐baited traps on the capture of Trogoderma granarium everts

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 8, Page 4471-4480, August 2025.
"Simulated warehouse": In this study, we take the step of testing existing and modified trap designs for Trogoderma after the release of T. granarium exclusively. This work will serve to evaluate trap efficacy, while providing a template for further attractant–kill research. The most effective trap was dome trap.

Soman induces endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis of cerebral organoids via the GRP78‐ATF6‐CHOP signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 15, Issue 7, Page 1041-1053, July 2025.
Cerebral organoids were employed as a novel model to explore the neurotoxicity of soman. Soman inhibited acetylcholinesterase activity, increased cell apoptosis and upregulated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress markers glucose‐regulated protein 78 (GRP78), activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) and C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP).
