Changes of Sound Absorption Capability of Wood by Organosolv Pretreatment [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Wood Science and Technology, 2012

Biovalorization of brewer's spent grain as single-cell protein through coupling organosolv pretreatment and fungal cultivation

open access: yes, 2023
Brewer's spent grain (BSG) is a clean byproduct from the food sector, comprising 85% of the brewing process solid byproducts. BSG is mainly used as low-quality animal feed and often ends up in landfills due to its short shelf life.

Silica extraction from organosolv pretreated wheat straw

open access: yesBioResources, 2022
The silica contained in biomass is generally recovered from the ashes after combustion. In this study, the main objective was the recovery of silica from wheat straw, without degrading the other biomass components. To achieve this goal, the wheat straw was first pre-treated by an acidic organosolv process to separate it into its three major components:

A comparison of various lignin-extraction methods to enhance the accessibility and ease of enzymatic hydrolysis of the cellulosic component of steam-pretreated poplar

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels, 2017
Background Current single-stage delignification-pretreatment technologies to overcome lignocellulosic biomass recalcitrance are usually achieved at the expense of compromising the recovery of the polysaccharide components, particularly the hemicellulose ...

Integrated biorefinery for cellulosic ethanol and spherical nanolignin production from coconut waste

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Green coconut waste was subjected to different fractionation methods to obtain integrated lignin nanoparticles and cellulosic ethanol. Pretreatment with gradual addition of dilute sulfuric acid provided a higher structural hemicellulose precursor yield (68.2%).

Xylose Acetals ‐ a New Class of Sustainable Solvents and Their Application in Enzymatic Polycondensation

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Novel organic solvents with an unmodified carbohydrate core were synthesised both from D‐xylose and directly from biomass and were successfully used as reaction media for lipase biocatalysts to synthesise aliphatic and aromatic polyesters. Abstract The use of organic solvents in academic research and industry applications is facing increasing ...
