Orientation angle and the adhesion of single gecko setae [PDF]
Abstract We investigated the effects of orientation angle on the adhesion of single gecko setae using dual-axis microelectromechanical systems force sensors to simultaneously detect normal and shear force components. Adhesion was highly sensitive to the pitch angle between the substrate and the seta's stalk.

Orientation Angles of a Pulsar’s Polarization Vector [PDF]
A statistical model of the polarization of pulsar radio emission is used to derive the general statistics of a polarization vector's orientation angles. The theoretical distributions are compared with orientation angle histograms computed from single-pulse, polarization observations of PSR B2020+28.

Damage behavior in quasi-isotropic CFRP laminates with small fiber orientation angle mismatch
The use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) has contributed in producing light-weighted and strong aircraft structures. However, the low impact resistance of CFRP makes it easier for internal damages to occur.

A Modified Four-Component Decomposition Method With Refined Volume Scattering Models
In this article, a modified four-component decomposition method with refined volume scattering models is proposed for polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image processing. In the new decomposition method, after the orientation angle compensation,

The Solution of the Inverse Problem of Identifying the Thermal Conductivity Tensor in Anisotropic Materials [PDF]
On the basis of A. N. Tikhonov's regularization theory, a technique has been developed for solving inverse heat conduction problems of identifying the thermal conductivity tensor in a two-dimensional domain.

Investigation of steel fibre pullout and modeling of bridging behaviour in SFRC
By adding fibres to concrete mix the objective is to bridge discrete cracks providing for some control to the fracture process and increase the fracture energy. Fibres become active mainly when cracking starts and deformation of the fibre occurs. Pullout
