Identification of MscS as a Key L‐Glutamate Exporter in Bacillus methanolicus
l‐Glutamate export in the methylotrophic bacterium Bacillus methanolicus, driven by an MscS‐like mechanosensitive channel. Figure created with BioRender (https://BioRender.com/t99s28). ABSTRACT Small‐conductance mechanosensitive channels (MscS) are established l‐glutamate exporters in industrially relevant bacteria, yet their role in the methylotrophic

In this study, we constructed a CR biosynthesis pathway in E. coli by introducing exogenous AGAT and GAMT. We integrated the reconstitution methionine cycle with a polyphosphate kinase‐based ATP regeneration system, achieving a CR titre of 5.27 g/L with a productivity of 0.22 g/L/h.

Quo vadis ureagenesis disorders? A journey from 90 years ago into the future
Abstract The pathway of ammonia disposal in the mammalian organism has been described in 1932 as a metabolic cycle present in the liver in different compartments. In 1958, the first human disorder affecting this pathway was described as a genetic condition leading to cognitive impairment and constant abnormalities of amino acid metabolism.

Comparative analysis of gene and disease selection in genomic newborn screening studies
Abstract Genomic newborn screening (gNBS) is on the horizon given the decreasing costs of sequencing and the advanced understanding of the impact of genetic variants on health and diseases. Key to ongoing gNBS pilot studies is the selection of target diseases and associated genes to be included.

An essential protease, FtsH, influences daptomycin resistance acquisition in Enterococcus faecalis
FtsH, a conserved protease, influences daptomycin resistance evolution rates in Enterococcus faecalis by indirectly affecting the availability of the chaperone repressor HrcA. FtsH is also essential in the wild‐type genetic background where its loss of function results in altered metabolism in terms of decreased extracellular acidification and ability ...

Characterizing arginine, ornithine, and putrescine pathways in enteric pathobionts
The amino acid L‐arginine is converted by bacteria into a variety of downstream metabolites, including citrulline, agmatine, ornithine, putrescine, and gamma‐aminobutyric acid (GABA). Our study shows that both Gram‐negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Klebsiella aerogenes, Pseudomonas fluorescens, and Acinetobacter baumannii) and
