Recent advances in faba bean genetic and genomic tools for crop improvement
Abstract Faba bean (Vicia faba L.), a member of the Fabaceae family, is one of the important food legumes cultivated in cool temperate regions. It holds great importance for human consumption and livestock feed because of its high protein content, dietary fibre, and nutritional value.

Identification of tolerance to metribuzin and imazethapyr herbicides in faba bean
Abstract Weeds cause serious constraint to faba bean (Vicia faba L.) productivity. Broad weed control is hampered by the availability of postemergence herbicides to control them, as the current faba bean cultivars are highly susceptible to them. Therefore, the deployment of postemergence herbicide tolerance is desirable in faba bean.

Fusarium spp. suppress germination and parasitic establishment of bean and hemp broomrapes
Thirty-nine Fusarium isolates were obtained from newly emerged infected bean broomrape (Orobanche crenata) and hemp broomrape (O. ramosa) collected from infested fields of faba bean (Vicia faba) and tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) respectively, in two ...

Abstract Ascochyta fabae is a fungal pathogen responsible for marked yield losses in spring and winter faba beans worldwide. The aim of this genome‐wide association study (GWAS) using 188 diverse winter faba bean inbred lines was to exploit earlier Ascochyta blight resistance studies and to identify new resistance loci.

Abstract Management and distribution of experimental data from prebreeding projects is important to ensure uptake of germplasm into breeding and research programs. Being able to access and share this data in standard formats is essential. The adoption of a common informatics platform for crops that may have limited resources brings economies of scale ...

Abstract Broomrape weeds (Orobanche spp.) are root holoparasitic plants that cause serious damage to a range of legume crops in the Mediterranean and sub‐Saharan African regions. Grain yield of cultivated species of grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) is almost negligible at the highest infection severity of Orobanche.

Orobanche crenata control in three faba bean varieties by soaking seeds in acetylsalicylate solutions [PDF]
The prevalence of Orobanche crenata on faba bean fields in the Mediterranean region is a serious problem. The chemical inducers, including salicylic acid and its analogues were reported to activate the systemic acquired resistance in plants to subsequent
