Exponential Clonal Expansion of 5-Fluorocytosine–Resistant Candida tropicalis and New Insights into Underlying Molecular Mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases
In 2022, we initiated systematic 5-fluorocytosine susceptibility testing of Candida spp. isolates in Denmark; we observed a bimodal MIC distribution in C. tropicalis, with MICs >16 mg/L in half the isolates.

In Silico Approach Triterpene Glycoside of H. atra Targeting Orotidine 5-Monophosphate Decarboxylase Protein (PfOMPDC) in P. falciparum Infection Mechanism. [PDF]

open access: yesBiomed Res Int
This study accessed the potential antimalarial activity of triterpene glycoside of H. atra through targeting orotidine 5‐monophosphate decarboxylase protein (PfOMPDC) in P. falciparum by molecular docking. Nine triterpene glycosides from H. atra extract modeled the structure by the Corina web server and interacted with PfOMPDC protein by using Hex 8.0 ...

Exploring Aspartate Transcarbamoylase: A Promising Broad-Spectrum Target for Drug Development. [PDF]

open access: yesChembiochem
Pyrimidine biosynthesis is a pivotal process shared by both eukaryotes and prokaryotes. This review examines the applications and advantages of a series of inhibitors specifically designed to target aspartate transcarbamylase within the de novo biosynthetic pathway of the malarial parasite.

A novel plasmid-based experimental system in Saccharomyces cerevisiae that enables the introduction of 10 different plasmids into cells. [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio
We developed the Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains termed Δ10 that exhibit auxotrophic behavior for 10 different nutrients and the plasmids with auxotrophic markers for use in Δ10 strains. Δ10 strains were able to maintain 10 types of plasmids by auxotrophic selection.

Safety evaluation of the food enzyme phosphoinositide phospholipase C from the genetically modified Pseudomonas fluorescens strain PIC. [PDF]

open access: yesEFSA J
Abstract The food enzyme phosphoinositide phospholipase C (1‐phosphatidyl‐1D‐myo‐inositol‐4,5‐bisphosphate inositoltrisphosphohydrolase EC 3.1.4.11.) is produced with the genetically modified Pseudomonas fluorescens strain PIC by DSM Food specialties B.V. The genetic modifications do not give rise to safety concerns. The food enzyme is free from viable
