Dynamic Analyses of Isolated Structures under Bi-Directional Excitations of Near-Field Ground Motions

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2012
Nonlinear response history analyses (NRHA) of a 3-story isolated reinforced concrete (RC) building are carried out under both uni- and bi-directional earthquake excitations of near-field records. NRHA are conducted for a wide range of yield strength (Q/W)

Dimensions-Reduced Volterra Digital Pre-Distortion Based On Orthogonal Basis for Band-Limited Nonlinear Opto-Electronic Components

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
Optical communication systems often include nonlinear components, such as Mach–Zehnder modulators (MZMs). The components’ nonlinearity may have a deleterious effect on the system performance, especially when the memory effect is included ...

Generalized orthogonal components regression for high dimensional generalized linear models [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Statistics & Data Analysis, 2015
Here we propose an algorithm, named generalized orthogonal components regression (GOCRE), to explore the relationship between a categorical outcome and a set of massive variables. A set of orthogonal components are sequentially constructed to account for the variation of the categorical outcome, and together build up a generalized linear model (GLM ...

Development and Preliminary In Vivo Study of 3D‐Printed Bioactive Glass Scaffolds with Trabecular Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the fabrication of trabecular bioactive glass scaffolds (composition “1d”: 46.1SiO2‐28.7CaO‐8.8MgO‐6.2P2O5‐5.7CaF2‐4.5Na2O wt%) through vat photopolymerization and the relevant results from mechanical testing and in vivo implantation procedures in rabbit femora, showing great promise for bone tissue engineering applications.

QCD effective action with a most general homogeneous field background

open access: yes, 2007
We consider one-loop effective action of SU(3) QCD with a most general constant chromomagnetic (chromoelectric) background which has two independent Abelian field components.

Hybrid Auxetic Architectures: Integrating Curvature‐Driven Design for Enhanced Mechanical Tunability and Structural Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Curvature‐tuned auxetic lattices are designed, fabricated, and mechanically characterized to reveal how geometric curvature governs stretchability, stress redistribution, and Poisson's ratio evolution. Photoelastic experiments visualize stress pathways, while hyperelastic simulations quantify deformation mechanics.

Engineering Deformation and Failure in Diamond Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Lattices via 3D Wall‐Thickness Grading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

ORTHOGONAL COMPONENTS OF THE THREE-PHASE CURRENT AT ASYMMETRICAL ACTIVE-REACTIVE LOAD IN 4-WIRE CIRCUIT

open access: yesElectrical engineering & Electromechanics, 2016
Purpose. For the unbalanced sinusoidal mode with asymmetric voltage in 3-phase 4-wire to receive the orthogonal 4-component decomposition of 3-phase current, are classified symmetry/asymmetry of active and reactive load elements separately.

On the explanatory power of principal components [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We show that if we have an orthogonal base ($u_1,\ldots,u_p$) in a $p$-dimensional vector space, and select $p+1$ vectors $v_1,\ldots, v_p$ and $w$ such that the vectors traverse the origin, then the probability of $w$ being to closer to all the vectors ...

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...
