Joint Decision-Directed Channel and Noise-Variance Estimation for MIMO OFDM/SDMA Systems Based on Expectation-Conditional Maximization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A joint channel impulse response (CIR) and noise-variance estimation scheme is proposed for multiuser multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing/space-division multiple access (OFDM/SDMA) systems, which is based on ...

Progressive Pattern Interleaver with Multi-Carrier Modulation Schemes and Iterative Multi-User Detection in IoT 6G Environments with Multipath Channels

open access: yesSensors
Sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks demand a more efficient implementation of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) schemes for severe multipath fading environments to serve multiple users.

An Uplink Transmission Scheme for Pattern Division Multiple Access Based on DFT Spread Generalized Multi-Carrier Modulation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In order to meet the requirements of high system throughput, massive connectivity, and asynchronous transmission for 5G and beyond, non-orthogonal transmission techniques, including modulation techniques and multiple access techniques, have attracted a ...

Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access for Hybrid VLC-RF Networks with Imperfect Channel State Information [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The present contribution proposes a general framework for the energy efficiency analysis of a hybrid visible light communication (VLC) and Radio Frequency (RF) wireless system, in which both VLC and RF subsystems utilize nonorthogonal multiple access ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Spectral Efficiency Comparison of OFDM and MC-CDMA with Carrier Frequency Offset [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2017
Inter-carrier interference and multiple access interference due to carrier frequency offset (CFO) are two major factors that deteriorate the performance of orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and multicarrier code division multiple ...

Other-Cell Interference Reducing Resource Allocation in OFDM-Based Asynchronous Cellular Systems

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2007
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is considered as one of the most promising techniques for next-generation wireless access systems. However, it may suffer from the so-called other-cell interference (OCI) in cellular environments.

Sparse code multiple access on the generalized frequency division multiplexing

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2020
Recent advances in the communication systems culminated in a new class of multiple access schemes, named non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), where the main goal is to increase the spectrum efficiency by overlapping data from different users in a ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
