A Well-Conditioned Spectral Galerkin–Levin Method for Highly Oscillatory Integrals

open access: yesAppliedMath
This paper addresses the numerical evaluation of highly oscillatory integrals by developing a spectral Galerkin–Levin approach that efficiently solves Levin’s differential equation formulation for such integrals.

Finite Orthogonal M Matrix Polynomials

open access: yesSymmetry
In this study, we aim to construct a finite set of orthogonal matrix polynomials for the first time, along with their finite orthogonality, matrix differential equation, Rodrigues’ formula, several recurrence relations including three-term relation, forward and backward shift operators, generating functions, integral representation and their relation ...

Regularity Estimates for Fully Nonlinear Dead‐Core Problems With a Hamiltonian Term

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we present a problem involving fully nonlinear elliptic operators with Hamiltonian, which can present a singularity or degenerate as the gradient approaches the origin. The model studied here, allows the appearance of plateau zones, i.e., unknown regions of the domain in which the non‐negative solutions vanishes.

The Nevanlinna matrix of the truncated Hausdorff matrix moment problem via orthogonal matrix polynomials on [a,b] for the case of an even number of moments

open access: yesVisnik Harkivsʹkogo Nacionalʹnogo Universitetu im. V.N. Karazina. Cepiâ Matematika, Prikladna Matematika i Mehanika
The scalar moment problem was first introduced by T. J. Stieltjes in his work ``Recherches sur les fractions continues'' Annals of the Faculty of Sciences of Toulouse 8, 1--122, (1895).

Numerical Approach Based on Two-Dimensional Fractional-Order Legendre Functions for Solving Fractional Differential Equations

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2017
In this paper, a robust, effective, and accurate numerical approach is proposed to obtain the numerical solution of fractional differential equations. The principal characteristic of the approach is the new orthogonal functions based on shifted Legendre ...

Peskine Sixfolds and Debarre–Voisin Fourfolds With Associated Cubic Fourfolds

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We develop the notion of Peskine sixfolds with associated K3 surfaces and cubic fourfolds and work out numerical conditions for when these associations occur. In discriminant 24, the first family for which there is an associated cubic fourfold, we identify the cubic explicitly.

Hyperbolic Rotations With Hybrid Numbers

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents a geometric and algebraic analysis of hyperbolic hybrid numbers, which combine structural features of the complex, dual, and hyperbolic number systems. Based on the algebraic properties of the hybrid number set, hyperbolic rotations in both the plane and space are investigated.

Differential properties of matrix orthogonal polynomials

open access: yes, 2002
In this paper a general theory of semi-classical matrix orthogonal polynomials is developed. We define the semi-classical linear functionals by means of a distributional equation $D(u A) = u B,$ where $A$ and $B$ are matrix polynomials. Several characterizations for these semi-classical functionals are given in terms of the corresponding (left) matrix ...

New views of some invariants associated with the Cartesian 2D velocity gradient tensor

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Vorticity and divergence of horizontal flow are fundamental quantities in meteorology; both are linear functions of the four elements of the 2D velocity gradient tensor and both are formally unchanged under coordinate rotation. We explore four quadratic functions of the elements that are geometrically invariant in this sense, finding some novel ...
