Orthogonal Neighborhood Preserving Projections [PDF]

open access: yesFifth IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM'05), 2006
Orthogonal neighborhood preserving projections (ONPP) is a linear dimensionality reduction technique which attempts to preserve both the intrinsic neighborhood geometry of the data samples and the global geometry. The proposed technique constructs a weighted data graph where the weights are constructed in a data-driven fashion, similarly to locally ...

A convergent nonlinear splitting via orthogonal projection [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
summary:We study the convergence of the iterations in a Hilbert space $V,x_{k+1}=W(P)x_k, W(P)z=w=T(Pw+(I-P)z)$, where $T$ maps $V$ into itself and $P$ is a linear projection operator.

Orthogonal projection regularization operators [PDF]

open access: yesNumerical Algorithms, 2007
The authors propose Tikhonov regularization operators of the form \(L = I - W W^T\), with \(W^T W = I\) and easy to be computed. They successfully apply these constructions to iterative and singular value decomposition-based methods. Numerical examples are presented for first kind integral equations and image restoration problems.

Orthogonal Projections Based on Hyperbolic and Spherical n-Simplex

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2015
Orthogonal projection along a geodesic to the chosen k-plane is introduced using edge and Gram matrix of an n-simplex in hyperbolic or spherical n-space. The distance from a point to k-plane is obtained by the orthogonal projection.

Zero-shot Hashing with orthogonal projection for image retrieval

open access: yesPattern Recognition Letters, 2019
Hashing has been widely used in large-scale image retrieval. Supervised information such as semantic similarity and class label, and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) has greatly improved the quality of hash codes and hash functions. However, due to the

Orthogonal Projection and Total Least Squares [PDF]

open access: yesNumerical Linear Algebra with Applications, 1993
AbstractOverdetermined linear systems often arise in applications such as signal processing and modern communication. When the overdetermined system of linear equations AX ≈︁ B has no solution, compatibility may be restored by an orthogonal projection method. The idea is to determine an orthogonal projection matrix P by some method M such that [Ã B̃] =

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

The Orthogonal Projection and the Riesz Representation Theorem [PDF]

open access: yesFormalized Mathematics, 2015
Abstract In this article, the orthogonal projection and the Riesz representation theorem are mainly formalized. In the first section, we defined the norm of elements on real Hilbert spaces, and defined Mizar functor RUSp2RNSp, real normed spaces as real Hilbert spaces.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

ESR1 methylation and ESR1 mutations in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and paired plasma‐cfDNA of advanced breast cancer patients: A feasibility proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) were analyzed to detect ESR1 mutations and methylation in patients with advanced breast cancer. CTC‐derived DNA showed higher sensitivity for mutation detection and revealed complementary genetic and epigenetic alterations, highlighting the added value of CTC analysis for understanding ...
