Genome‐Wide Association Analyses Reveal the Genetic Basis of EMS Mutagenesis Efficiency in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on large‐scale screening of 420 rice accessions, GWAS identified the Rc locus as a key regulator of EMS mutagenesis efficiency. Functional Rc alleles enhance both seed survival and genome‐wide mutation frequency by boosting antioxidant enzyme activities (CAT, SOD, POD) and reducing oxidative damage.

Root microbiota analysis of Oryza rufipogon and Oryza sativa reveals an orientation selection during the domestication process

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
The root-associated microbiota has a close relation to the life activities of plants, and its composition is affected by the rhizospheric environment and plant genotypes.

Long terminal repeat retrotransposons of Oryza sativa [PDF]

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2002
Long terminal repeat (LTR) retrotransposons constitute a major fraction of the genomes of higher plants. For example, retrotransposons comprise more than 50% of the maize genome and more than 90% of the wheat genome. LTR retrotransposons are believed to have contributed significantly to the evolution of genome structure and function.

Epidermal Cell Dynamics Regulates Rice Lamina Joint Morphogenesis and Leaf Angle Formation through OsZHD1 and OsZHD2 Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The lamina joint determines leaf angle and plant architecture. Xu et al. establish a live‐imaging system for the rice lamina joint and reveal that asymmetric epidermal cell elongation and division between the lateral and medial edges drive leaf angle formation.

Mycoflora and Aflatoxin Contamination of Some Foodstuffs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Analysis was made of the mycoflora and aflatoxin contamination of Rice (Oryza sativa), Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris), Corn (Zea mays), and Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea) sold in four different markets in Sango-Ota, Ogun state, Nigeria.

Occurrence of LINE, gypsy-like, and copia-like retrotransposons in the clonally propagated sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Retrotransposons are a class of transposable elements that represent a major fraction of the repetitive DNA of most eukaryotes. Their abundance stems from their expansive replication strategies.

Influence of Region, Harvest Year, and Variety on Stable Isotope Characterization of Xinjiang Rice From China

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
Xinjiang rice isotopic differences were influenced by region, harvest year, variety, with southern rice had more positive δ13C, δ2H and δ18O values than northern. This study provides the first Xinjiang rice traceability data, aiding China's national rice database.

The complete mitochondrial genome of upland rice (Oryza sativa) in southwest of China

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
We sequenced complete mitochondrial genome of upland rice Oryza sativa (Liliopsida: Poales: Poaceae) with length of 444,883 bp. The genome has similar codon usage and gene organization to those of mitogenome reported for other Poales.

Combining High Yields and Blast Resistance in Rice (Oryza spp.): A Screening under Upland and Lowland Conditions in Benin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The future security of the supply of rice for food in Africa depends on improving the level of local production to achieve self-sufficiency. In order to cope with the existing gap between production and actual demand, combining a high level of rice blast
