NUMERICAL STUDY ON OSCILLATING HYDROFOILS FOR ENERGY EXTRACTION
Simulation results reveal that the fully prescribed system achieves a total efficiency of 38.6%, with heaving motion accounting for a heaving efficiency of 57.55% and a total average power output of 139.53 W. In contrast, the semi-passive model generates significant unsteady vertical motion—approximately three times larger in displacement—yet fails to ...openaire +1 more source

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF NON-STEADY FORCES ON HYDROFOILS OSCILLATING IN HEAVE
1969Abstract : Measurements of the unsteady forces on heaving delta wing hydrofoils hydrofoils having apex angles of 15 and 30 deg were carried out in fully wetted flow, planing at a free surface, and with forced ventilation. The fully wetted dynamic measurements were in good agreement with the results of lifting surface theory at small angles of attack. A

Unsteady nonlinear free surface flows around an oscillating Hydrofoil
1999A model is under development to study the hydrodynamics of a flapping foil 1i beneath water waves. Cavitation effects and large separation phenomena are ruled out but nonlinearities due to moving and free boundaries are fully retained. In this framework, the flow field, sketched in fig.

The unsteady forces on slender delta wing hydrofoils oscillating in heave
1968The investigations described herein are both experimental and theoretical. An experimental technique is described by which the models tested could be oscillated sinusoidally in heave. The apparatus used to gather the unsteady lift, drag and pitching moment data is also described.
