Rainbow Smelt (Osmerus mordax) Genomic Library and EST Resources
AbstractGenomic resources in rainbow smelt (Osmerus mordax) enable us to examine the genome duplication process in salmonids and test hypotheses relating to the fate of duplicated genes. They further enable us to pursue physiological and ecological studies in smelt.

Data on biology, ecology and fishery of asiatic smelt in the Uda River during its spawning migration are analyzed. The spawning begins in May-June in 2–11 km from the river mouth and lasts 3–10 days. Timing of its start varies from May 22 (2014 and 2018)

Fish predation pressure on zooplankton in a large northern temperate lake: impact of adult predators versus juvenile predators; pp. 356–367 [PDF]
In recent decades, a marked decrease in planktivorous fish (Osmerus eperlanus eperlanus m. spirinchus Pallas and Coregonus albula (L.)) in Lake Peipsi has stimulated research into the potential effect of fish predation on zooplankton.

Length–weight relationships of 12 fish species (Actinopterygii) from nearshore and coastal Alaskan waters of the eastern Bering, Chukchi, and Beaufort seas [PDF]
Changing ocean conditions in higher latitude ecosystems and the potential impact on marine fish underscores the need for baseline information on their biology and growth.

Stock and biological structure of rainbow smelt Osmerus mordax dentex in the water bodies of Kamchatka are considered. In total, 14,156 individuals are analyzed in 2005-2013; age is determined for 11,954 of them. The stock is assessed by bottom trawl and

Only a handful freshwater fish species are still commercially sought after in Sweden. Subsistence fishing in lakes and rivers is also rare nowadays and has in general been replaced by recreational fishing.

ABSTRACT Marine isotope substage 11c (~426–366 ka) is widely regarded as the most recent Pleistocene interglacial that is broadly analogous to the Holocene. The timing and magnitude of sea‐level changes during MIS 11 have been much debated, particularly concerning whether sea levels were significantly higher than during the Holocene. Empirical evidence

Lacustrine forms of Triglopsis from North American and European lakes are at different stages of evolution, making them a suitable model for testing hypotheses about evolutionary patterns and rates. An integrative analysis of morphological, genetic, and biological adaptations occurring in lacustrine forms of the genus Triglopsis was carried out.

Abstract Successfully overcoming lateral barriers in rivers is crucial for longitudinal fish migration and is influenced mainly by fishway design, environmental variability and/or individual behavioural traits. Although behavioural traits are well studied in many contexts, their role in predicting fishway passage success in the wild remains poorly ...
