Mathematical Model of Freezing of Rocks Saturated With Salt Solution Taking Into Account the Influence of Osmosis

open access: yesRussian Journal of Earth Sciences, 2023
The paper presents a mathematical model of rocks freezing saturated with salt solution under impact of osmotic force. Osmosis is related to the salt concentration gradient, which is characteristic for solutions, and it is a powerful mechanism for the ...

Ahmad Sanusi Sukabumi's Efforts in Straightening the Concept of Absolute Water Opposing the Other Pesantren Leaders | جهود الكياهي الحاج أحمد سنوسي السوكابومي في بيان حقيقة الماء المطلق تجاه رؤساء بيزانترين

open access: yesAl-Zahra: Journal for Islamic and Arabic Studies, 2020
This article is a concerted effort in further introducing the figure of K.H. Ahmad Sanusi from Sukabumi as one of the Indonesian scholars who has an important role in building a critical culture in studying religious texts, and also his intelligence in ...

Concentration and Temperature Effects on Water and Salt Permeabilities in Osmosis and Implications in Pressure-Retarded Osmosis

open access: yesMembranes, 2018
Osmotic power extracted from the mixing of freshwater with seawater is a renewable energy resource that has gained increasing attention during recent years. The estimated energy can significantly contribute to the production of power worldwide.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Protein nanoparticles induce the activation of voltage-dependent non-selective ion channels to modulate biological osmotic pressure in cytotoxic cerebral edema

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
IntroductionCytotoxic cerebral edema is a serious complication associated with cerebral ischemic stroke and is widely treated using the hypertonic dehydrant.

Biaxial testing of canine annulus fibrosus tissue under changing salt concentrations

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2010
The in vivo mechanics of the annulus fibrosus of the intervertebral disc is one of biaxial rather than uniaxial loading. The material properties of the annulus are intimately linked to the osmolarity in the tissue.
