Theoretical thermodynamic analysis of a closed-cycle process for the conversion of heat into electrical energy by means of a distiller and an electrochemical cell

open access: yes, 2014
We analyse a device aimed at the conversion of heat into electrical energy, based on a closed cycle in which a distiller generates two solutions at different concentrations, and an electrochemical cell consumes the concentration difference, converting it

Energy-water-environment nexus underpinning future desalination sustainability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Energy-water-environment nexus is very important to attain COP21 goal, maintaining environment temperature increase below 2 °C, but unfortunately two third share of CO2 emission has already been used and the remaining will be exhausted by 2050.

Humidity‐Corrected Thermodynamic Modeling of Ammonium Chloride Crystallization Temperature Mechanisms and Application

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As refineries process increasingly inferior crude oils, ammonium salt corrosion has intensified. Accurate prediction of ammonium salt crystallization temperatures and their influencing factors is therefore crucial for safe and stable operations.

Advanced Investigation of the Elimination of Methylene Blue From Wastewater Using Activated Carbon–Copper Oxide Nanowires: New Perspectives With Statistical Physical Modeling

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, the actual route of methylene blue (MB) dye adsorption by using fabricated polyfunctional activated carbon–copper oxide nanowires (AC@CuO‐NWs) from bulky wastewater bodies has been investigated. To better understand the exact pathway of the adsorption process, a prominent statistical physics formalism or grand canonical ...

Sustainable Low‐Alcohol Beer Production by Combination of Membrane Osmotic Distillation and Pervaporation

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering
Membrane osmotic distillation (OD) is applied in this work for the partial dealcoholization of beer (5.2 v/v% alcohol content) to diminish its ethanol content by around 50% giving rise to a low alcohol beer.

Energetic and Socioeconomic Justification for Solar-Powered Desalination Technology for Rural Indian Villages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper provides justification for solar-powered electrodialysis desalination systems for rural Indian villages. It is estimated that 11% of India’s 800 million people living in rural areas do not have access to an improved water source. If the source’

Green Fuel Combustion Synthesis of CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Applications

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silver‐doped cerium oxide nanoparticles (Ag/CeO2 NPs) were synthesized using Ricinus communis seed extract as a bio‐derived fuel in a solution combustion method. The combustion reaction, carried out at 450°C with AgNO3 and (NH4)2[Ce (NO3)6] as metal precursors, produced CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 NPs.
