Relationship of Dye Adsorption Onto Biomass Activated Carbon Mixed Matrix Ultrafiltration: A Mass Transfer Model Study

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study explored dye molecule adsorption from water, focusing on activated carbon in polymer membranes for purifying low‐quality water. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes showed enhanced removal efficiency of methylene blue (MB) from 89.29% to 98.33% with biomass‐activated carbon (BAC).

Scalable Layer‐by‐Layer Electrospray‐Assisted Interfacial Polymerization: Enabling Large‐Area Polyamide Membrane Fabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We report a multi‐jet, layer‐by‐layer electrospray‐assisted interfacial polymerization (LBL‐EAIP) approach for the scalable fabrication of polyamide reverse osmosis (RO) membranes. The method enables precise control of polymerization, uniform polyamide coverage, and tunable polyamide film thickness, while delivering consistently high filtration ...

Concentration of skim milk using a hybrid system of osmotic distillation and membrane distillation

open access: yesDesalination and Water Treatment, 2019
For several dairy processes, concentration of milk by removing its water content at certain proportions is a principal step. In this study, milk is concentrated using osmotic distillation. The effect of operation parameters including draw solution concentration, temperature, feed and draw solution rates on flux was assessed.

Osmotically and Thermally Isolated Forward Osmosis–Membrane Distillation (FO–MD) Integrated Module [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Science & Technology, 2019
In this study, we propose a novel module design to integrate forward osmosis (FO) and membrane distillation (MD). The two processes are sealed in one module and operated simultaneously, making the system compact and suitable for a wide range of applications.
