The pressure moments for two rigid spheres in low-Reynolds-number flow [PDF]
The pressure moment of a rigid particle is defined to be the trace of the first moment of the surface stress acting on the particle. A Faxén law for the pressure moment of one spherical particle in a general low-Reynolds-number flow is found in terms of ...

Osmotic pressure induced coupling between cooperativity and stability of a helix-coil transition
Most helix-coil transition theories can be characterized by a set of three parameters: energetic, describing the (free) energy cost of forming a helical state in one repeating unit; entropic, accounting for the decrease of entropy due to the helical ...

Speckle‐Engineered Upconversion Amplification in Nanoemulsion‐Templated Hydrogel Microdomes
Nanoemulsion‐confined PEGDA microdomes generate speckle‐like excitation fields that strongly amplify upconversion luminescence upon dehydration, enabling filter‐free visible readout with reversible on–off switching. DMD‐based lithography yields scalable, shape‐programmable arrays for moisture‐responsive displays and optical encryption.

Robust Polymer Hydrogels Improve Electric‐Fish‐Inspired Batteries
ABSTRACT Electric‐fish‐inspired hydrogel batteries based on ion‐concentration gradients offer an attractive route to soft power sources; however, the poor mechanical properties of existing hydrogels limit device assembly and performance. Here, we report poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether acrylate hydrogels that enable ion‐gradient batteries composed of

Screening of Spherical Colloids beyond Mean Field -- A Local Density Functional Approach [PDF]
We study the counterion distribution around a spherical macroion and its osmotic pressure in the framework of the recently developed Debye-H"uckel-Hole-Cavity (DHHC) theory. This is a local density functional approach which incorporates correlations into

Gold bipyramids can act as efficient plasmonic nanoheaters, but they often reshape during laser heating. This study shows that oxygen nanobubbles drive oxidative etching and that surface ligands control stability. CTAB‐ and citrate‐coated particles blunt and lose optical performance, whereas polystyrene sulfonate preserves shape and heating by ...
