IMPACT OF SORBITOL- INDUCED OSMOTIC STRESS ON SOME BIOCHEMICAL TRAITS OF POTATO IN VITRO

open access: yesThe Iraqi Journal of Agricultural science, 2020
This study had as principal objective identification of osmotic-tolerant potato genotypes by using "in vitro" tissue culture and sorbitol as a stimulating agent, to induce water stress, which was added to the  culture nutritive medium in different ...

Insights on Osmotic Tolerance Mechanisms in Escherichia coli Gained from an rpoC Mutation

open access: yesBioengineering, 2017
An 84 bp in-frame duplication (K370_A396dup) within the rpoC subunit of RNA polymerase was found in two independent mutants selected during an adaptive laboratory evolution experiment under osmotic stress in Escherichia coli, suggesting that this ...

Validation of reference genes for normalization of qPCR mRNA expression levels in Staphylococcus aureus exposed to osmotic and lactic acid stress conditions encountered during food production and preservation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Staphylococcus aureus represents the most prevalent cause of food-borne intoxications worldwide. While being repressed by competing bacteria in most matrices, this pathogen exhibits crucial competitive advantages during growth at high salt concentrations

Emergent Motility of Self‐Organized Particle‐Giant Unilamellar Vesicle Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs), when combined with silica particles under alternating electric fields, spontaneously self‐assemble into motile structures. Asymmetric particle decoration induces fluid flows that propel the assemblies, enabling persistent motion and reversible control.

Integrating Vibrio natriegens for Photon Manipulation in Living Lighting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rationalization of genetic and material engineering tools has enabled the engineering of fluorescent Vibrio natriegens (V. natriegens) to fabricate straightforward, highly emissive and stable V. natriegens‐silicones color filters for the first red‐emitting bacteria‐hybrid light‐emitting diodes. This pinpoints V. natriegens as a high‐performance protein

Changes in Chlorophyll Content and Fluorescence and Total Soluble Sugars Rapeseed Cultivars under Osmotic Stress [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Science and Sustainable Production, 2015
In order to evaluate the effect of osmotic stress on total soluble sugars, chlorophyll fluorescence and chlorophyll content (SPAD) in the seedling stage of rapeseed, an experiment was conducted as split plot based on randomized complete block design with

Bond Orientational Order, Molecular Motion and Free Energy of High Density DNA Mesophases

open access: yes, 1995
By equilibrating condensed DNA arrays against reservoirs of known osmotic stress and examining them with several structural probes, it has been possible to achieve a detailed thermodynamic and structural characterization of the change between two ...

Dynamic, Reconfigurable, and Hierarchical Biosynthetic Composites via Collagen Self‐Assembly within Highly Crowded Microgel Pastes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A new approach to extracellular matrix‐mimetic, hierarchical biomaterials is presented. Soft gels composed of overpacked hydrogel microparticle arrays present a biomolecularly crowded environment permissive to the self‐assembly of collagen networks.
