Abstract Practitioners and policy makers require sea‐level (SL) change estimates at regional‐to‐local scales to inform adaptation measures against sea‐level rise (SLR). Ocean dynamic SL (DSL) changes are a dominant driver of regional patterns of SL projections provided by the global climate models (GCMs).

The Latent Heating Feedback on the Mid‐Latitude Circulation
Abstract Midlatitude storms transport warm and moist air poleward and upward, releasing latent heat. Latent heating is thus organized by the circulation but then modifies temperature gradients and winds, constituting a nonlinear feedback. We define the latent heating feedback as the effects that arise from latent heating being coupled with the ...

Losing Water by Storing It: The Oversighted Side of Intensive Water Regulation and Damming
Abstract Reservoirs are crucial for managing water resources but they may also promote enhanced water evaporation inland. Here we analyze the historical trends, causal attribution, and future projections of regional evaporative losses across 362 Spanish reservoirs, representing 94% of the nation's storage capacity, in one of the most heavily dammed ...

A hypothesis on ergodicity and the signal‐to‐noise paradox
This letter suggests ergodicity concerns may affect the signal‐to‐noise paradox in ensemble weather forecasting. For the ensemble mean to be our best forecast of observations, the ergodic theorem must hold, as this approach interprets the mean as the most likely phase‐space trajectory.

Abstract Persistent fluctuations in the latitudinal position of the North Atlantic (NATL) jet stream are closely linked to extreme weather anomalies, particularly over Europe. Accurately representing jet stream persistence in climate models is essential for enhancing the reliability of future regional extreme weather projections.

The observed evolution of sub‐daily to multi‐day heavy precipitation in Switzerland
Daily and multi‐day heavy precipitation intensity and frequency have increased since 1901, mainly driven by anthropogenic climate change. Heavy precipitation peaks in the 1980s and subsequently shows a decrease in daily to multi‐day heavy precipitation due to internal variability.
