Spatial and temporal variation in otolith chemistry for tautog (Tautoga onitis) in Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island coastal ponds [PDF]
The elemental composition of otoliths may provide valuable information for establishing connectivity between fish nursery grounds and adult fish populations. Concentrations of Rb, Mg, Ca, Mn, Sr, Na, K, Sr, Pb, and Ba were determined by using solution-

ABSTRACT Human life history is derived compared to that of our closest living relatives, the great apes. It has been suggested that these derived traits are causally related to aspects of our ecology, social behaviour and cognitive abilities. However, resolving this requires that we know the evolutionary trajectory of our distinctive pattern of growth,

Otoliths, calcified structures in the inner ears, are used to estimate fish age, and their shape is an efficient fish stock identification tool. Otoliths are thus very important for the management and assessment of commercial stocks.

Preliminary use of oxygen stable isotopes and the 1983 El Niño to assess the accuracy of aging black rockfish (Sebastes melanops) [PDF]
Black rockfish (Sebastes melanops) range from California to Alaska and are found in both nearshore and shallow continental shelf waters (Love et al., 2002). Juveniles and subadults inhabit shallow water, moving deeper as they grow. Generally, adults are

Abstract Background Mutations in cohesins cause cohesinopathies such as Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) and Roberts Syndrome (RBS). Prior findings demonstrate that Esco2 (a cohesin activator) and Smc3 (a core cohesin subunit) regulate the CRL4 E3 ubiquitin ligase. SMC3 mutations, however, account for a small percentage of CdLS.

The current study aims to calculate and assess the asymmetry of the two goatfish species, Yellowstripe goatfish Mulloidichthys flavolineatus (Lacepède 1801) and Red Sea goatfish, Parupeneus forsskali (Fourmanoir & Guézé 1976) collected from Hurghada ...

Assessing movement of rainbow trout and common smelt between Lake Rotoiti and Lake Rotorua using otolith chemical signatures: A summary of work so far [PDF]
This study used otolith microchemistry to investigate movement of common smelt and rainbow trout between Lake Rotorua and Lake Rotoiti. Rainbow trout were collected from Lake Rotoiti, Lake Rotorua and the Ohau Channel, and smelt were collected from ...

Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials to Diagnose Vestibular Neuritis: A Scoping Review
Standardization of stimulation and recording protocols is essential to improve comparability across VEMP studies. Integrating cervical and ocular VEMPs with other vestibular tests enhances diagnostic accuracy and supports precise localization of vestibular neuritis.

Comparative investigation of the relationships between otolith weight and size with fish length in Neogobius species in the Southern part of the Caspian Sea [PDF]
In this study, the relationships between otolith weight and dimensions with fish length were investigated in Neogobius species from Gobiidae. During this research, 149 specimens belong to three species, Neogobius pallasi, N. caspius and N.
