LRRC8A Regulates Outer Hair Cell Volume and Electromotility and is Required for Hearing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies LRRC8A‐dependent volume‐regulated anion channels (VRACs) as essential for cochlear outer hair cells' electromotility and auditory signal amplification. LRRC8A deficiency disrupts cell volume control, impairs auditory sensitivity, and causes deafness, while targeted LRRC8A re‐expression restores auditory function.

PVC Nanoplastics Exposure Exacerbates Asthma through R‐Loop Accumulation and Subsequent STING Activation in Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) nanoplastics (NPs) are shown to aggravate allergic airway inflammation in asthma by triggering R‐loop accumulation and activating the cGAS‐STING pathway in macrophages. This study reveals a novel immunotoxic mechanism linking environmental plastic exposure to asthma pathogenesis and highlights potential molecular targets for ...

Tackling Allergic Airway Inflammation with Organic Sheet‐Like Nanoplatforms by Targeted Elimination of Epithelial Small Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, “inorganic‐free” nanosheets, named PNSE are developed using template‐based synthesis technology. The functionalized organic nanosheets exhibit low cytotoxicity, mild protein adsorption, and potent binding efficacy to epithelial sEVs.

The Modified Stenver’s View for Cochlear Implants – What do the Surgeons Want to Know?

open access: yesJournal of the Belgian Society of Radiology, 2020
Despite developments in electrophysiological testing, imaging remains the standard method to determine cochlear implant positioning. Whilst cone beam computed tomography is optimal, modified Stenver radiographs are easier to perform and are therefore ...
