Spatially Decoupling Heating and Evaporation for Convection‐Enhanced 3D Solar Evaporation With Continuous Salt Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An architecture‐enabled bottom‐heated 3D solar convective evaporator spatially decouples photothermal heating from evaporation, triggering natural convection that intensifies sidewall vapour removal and heat transfer. The system achieves significantly enhanced evaporation rates over 2D and conventional 3D designs while confining salt precipitation to ...

Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

A Super‐Adhesive Air Filter With Capillarity‐Mediated Spontaneous Particle Absorption via Dynamic Bond Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We address the inherently weak particle adhesion of conventional air filters by coating a dynamically crosslinked adhesive layer that delivers capillarity‐driven strong adhesion and particle absorption mediated by dynamic bond exchange. The resulting enhancement in particle adhesion enables efficient ultrafast (up to 20 m s−1) and omnidirectional ...

Play Poles [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2019 on Designing Interactive Systems Conference, 2019
This pictorial reports on the Play Poles prototype that was designed as part of a design ethnography investigating the Internet of Things (IoT) as a resource supporting outdoor play amongst groups of children. We use illustrations and annotations derived from video data and analysis to depict gestures, actions and social interaction that are ...

Kindergartens' landscape : the effect of outdoor play space on children's play and performances / Wan Azlina Wan Ismail [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Playing and moving are central in young children’s lives. Allowing the children to experience the natural and man-made elements in their school environment would develop their cognitive, physical, and social abilities.
