Spectral domain optical coherence tomography measurements in amblyopic Egyptian patients

open access: yesDelta Journal of Ophthalmology, 2017
Purpose The aim of this study was to compare the macular thickness and each retinal layer thickness of the amblyopic eyes with their normal fellow eyes in patients with unilateral amblyopia using the Spectralis spectral domain optical coherence ...

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Study on the Process Characteristics of Picosecond Laser Trepan Cutting Hole Manufacturing for Heat-Resistant Steel

open access: yesMetals
Picosecond laser drilling offers high precision and quality, and compared to femtosecond lasers, it also balances processing efficiency, making it widely used across various fields. However, existing drilling processes still face issues such as roundness

ACCURATE OPTICAL TARGET POSE DETERMINATION FOR APPLICATIONS IN AERIAL PHOTOGRAMMETRY [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2016
We propose a new design for an optical coded target based on concentric circles and a position and orientation determination algorithm optimized for high distances compared to the target size.

A dynamical and kinematical model of the Galactic stellar halo and possible implications for galaxy formation scenarios

open access: yes, 1996
We re-analyse the kinematics of the system of blue horizontal branch field (BHBF) stars in the Galactic halo (in particular the outer halo), fitting the kinematics with the model of radial and tangential velocity dispersions in the halo as a function of ...

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

Optimizing Post Friction Stir Welding Heat Treatment in Dissimilar Friction Stir Welded 6061/AlSi10MgMn Joints for Electrical Vehicle Battery Housing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Microstructural evolution and hardness optimization along the cross‐section of friction stir welded AA6061/AlSi10MgMn joints, for electric vehicle battery housings, were investigated. Postweld aging between 170°C and 220°C enhances hardness uniformity within the nugget zone.

Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

The support of the limit distribution of optimal Riesz energy points on sets of revolution in $\mathbb{R}^{3}$

open access: yes, 2007
Let A be a compact set in the right-half plane and $\Gamma(A)$ the set in $\mathbb{R}^{3}$ obtained by rotating A about the vertical axis. We investigate the support of the limit distribution of minimal energy point charges on $\Gamma(A)$ that interact ...
