Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Pathway to Fractional Integrals, Fractional Differential Equations, and Role of the H-Function

open access: yesAxioms
In this paper, the pathway model for the real scalar variable case is re-explored and its connections to fractional integrals, solutions of fractional differential equations, Tsallis statistics and superstatistics in statistical mechanics, the reaction ...

Indigenous Interests in Outer Space: Addressing the Conflict of Increasing Satellite Numbers with Indigenous Astronomy Practices

open access: yesLaws, 2022
The number of satellites in low Earth orbit is constantly increasing, particularly with the introduction of larger satellite constellations in recent times.

Outer Space: The Final Frontier or the Final Battlefield? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Current law concerning the militarization and weaponization of outer space is inadequate for present times. The increased implementation of “dual-use” space technologies poses obstacles for the demilitarization of space. This paper examines how far the

The classification of static vacuum space-times containing an asymptotically flat spacelike hypersurface with compact interior [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We prove non-existence of static, vacuum, appropriately regular, asymptotically flat black hole space-times with degenerate (not necessarily connected) components of the event horizon.

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Analysis of Solar Neutrino Data from Super-Kamiokande I and II

open access: yesEntropy, 2014
We are going back to the roots of the original solar neutrino problem: the analysis of data from solar neutrino experiments. The application of standard deviation analysis (SDA) and diffusion entropy analysis (DEA) to the Super-Kamiokande I and II data ...

THE SECURITY IMPACT OF THE MILITARIZATION OF OUTER SPACE

open access: yesBulletin of "Carol I" National Defense University, 2022
The competition for the military conquest of outer space dominated the public agenda during the Cold War. It was the spatial side of the geopolitical competition between the capitalist West and the communist East.

Metric properties of Outer Space [PDF]

open access: yesPublicacions Matemàtiques, 2011
We define metrics on Culler-Vogtmann space, which are an analogue of the Teichmuller metric and are constructed using stretching factors. In fact the metrics we study are related, one being a symmetrised version of the other. We investigate the basic properties of these metrics, showing the advantages and pathologies of both choices.

Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.
