A New Machine Learning Algorithm to Simulate the Outlet Flow in a Reservoir, Based on a Water Balance Model

open access: yesLimnological Review
Predicting water losses and final storage in reservoirs has become increasingly relevant in the efficient control and optimization of water provided to agriculture, livestock, industry, and domestic consumption, aiming to mitigate the risks associated ...

Three-Dimensional Simulations of Dynamics of Accretion Flows Irradiated by a Quasar

open access: yes, 2008
We study the axisymmetric and non-axisymmetric, time-dependent hydrodynamics of gas that is under the influence of the gravity of a super massive black hole (SMBH) and the radiation force produced by a radiatively efficient flow accreting onto the SMBH ...

Spatially Resolved Observations of the Bipolar Optical Outflow from the Brown Dwarf 2MASSJ12073347-3932540 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Studies of brown dwarf (BD) outflows provide information pertinent to questions on BD formation, as well as allowing outflow mechanisms to be investigated at the lowest masses.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

X-Ray Properties of NGC 253's Starburst-driven Outflow

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We analyze image and spectral data from ≈365 ks of observations from the Chandra X-ray Observatory of the nearby, edge-on starburst galaxy NGC 253 to constrain properties of the hot phase of the outflow.

Outflows from the high-mass protostars NGC 7538 IRS1/2 observed with bispectrum speckle interferometry -- Signatures of flow precession [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
NGC 7538 IRS1 is a high-mass (approx. 30 M_sun) protostar with a CO outflow, an associated UCHII region, and a linear methanol maser structure, which might trace a Keplerian-rotating circumstellar disk.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Cerebral arterial collateral status, but not venous outflow profiles, modifies the effect of intravenous tissue plasminogen activator in acute ischemic stroke

open access: yesBrain Circulation
BACKGROUND: The role of arterial collateral and venous outflow status on the response to intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (IV-tPA) has not been sufficiently clarified in acute major cerebral occlusions.

Estimation of mass outflow rates from dissipative accretion disc around rotating black holes

open access: yes, 2017
We study the properties of the dissipative accretion flow around rotating black holes in presence of mass loss. We obtain the complete set of global inflow-outflow solutions in the steady state by solving the underlying conservation equations self ...
