Milder is better? advantages and disadvantages of "mild" ovarian stimulation for human in vitro fertilization

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology, 2011
In the last decades, several steps have been made aiming at rendering human IVF more successful on one side, more tolerable on the other side. The "mild" ovarian stimulation approach, in which a lower-than-average dose of exogenous gonadotropins is given

Inhibition of IGFBP4 in Granulosa Cells Improves Reproductive Performance and Maintains Fertility With Age via YAP Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 is upregulated in granulosa cells of aged ovaries across monkeys, mice, and humans. It inhibits YAP signaling, thereby suppressing cell proliferation and contributing to follicular dysfunction. Deletion of Igfbp4 in granulosa cells enhances ovulatory output, improves hormone profiles, and reproductive performance in aged female mice, suggesting ...

A Pentaradial and Bilateral Combined Photoreception System in the Sea Cucumber is Mediated by a Blue Light‐Sensitive R‐Opsin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The sea cucumber Holothuria leucospilota detects blue and adjacent wavelengths of light via an r‐opsin with a maximum absorption at 459 nm. In the oral tentacles, papillae, and tube feet, distinct light‐sensing structures with specialized morphologies are formed, constituting a unique pentaradial and bilateral combined photoreception system.

Effect of letrozole cotreatment in progestin-primed ovarian stimulation on IVF/ICSI outcomes in POSEIDON group 3 and 4 poor responders: a retrospective cohort study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medical Research
Background For poor ovarian response patients, obtaining higher number of transferable and high-quality embryos is crucial and progestin-primed ovarian stimulation protocol is becoming widespread and constantly improving in this population. Letrozole has

Microglial Deubiquitinase OTUD7B Stabilizes STAT3 to Promote Neuroinflammation and Cognitive Decline in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
. ABSTRACT Neuroinflammation driven by microglial activation is a defining feature of Alzheimer's disease (AD), yet the molecular mechanisms sustaining this proinflammatory state remain unclear. Here, we identify the deubiquitinase OTUD7B as a critical regulator of microglial activation and AD pathology.

Single‐Cell Transcriptomic Analysis of Tumor Heterogeneity and the Microenvironment in Pseudomyxoma Peritonei

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a single‐cell atlas of pseudomyxoma peritonei spanning primary and paired metastatic lesions. Distinct epithelial substates, stromal remodeling, immune exclusion, lipid metabolic reprogramming, and a candidate angiogenic network were identified in metastatic lesions.

The effects of ovarian enzyme modulators on folliculogenesis and cyst development in the porcine ovary. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The first aim of the research conducted as part of this thesis was to investigate the expression and activities of 110HSD enzymes in porcine mural granulosa cells and COCs from small, medium and large antral follicles, as well as from ovarian cysts. Both

The Mind From Within: Visceral Roots of Human Cognition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The physiological activity of visceral organs, such as the heart, the lungs, and the gut, is surprisingly linked to many sophisticated mental operations, such as remembering the past, being aware of ourselves, making choices, and forging social bonds.

Single‐Cell RNA Editing Identifies T Cell ADAR1 as a Key Regulator of Immune Exhaustion and Anti‐PD‐1 Resistance in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA editing analysis identifies ADAR1 as a regulator of dysfunctional T cell states in colorectal cancer. Elevated ADAR1 activity promotes T cell exhaustion and impairs antitumor immunity partly through TGF‐β‐SMAD signaling, contributing to anti‐PD‐1 resistance and highlighting T cell ADAR1 as a potential therapeutic target and biomarker ...
