Large-eddy simulation of dispersion: comparison between elevated source and ground level source

open access: yes, 2004
Large-eddy simulation (LES) is used to calculate the concentration fluctuations of passive plumes from an elevated source (ES) and a ground-level source (GLS) in a turbulent boundary layer over a rough wall.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Silicon-on-Nitride Waveguide With Ultralow Dispersion Over an Octave-Spanning Mid-Infrared Wavelength Range

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
The proposed silicon-on-nitride (SON) waveguide exhibits an ultrabroadband (4200 nm), low chromatic dispersion in the mid-infrared (MIR) wavelength region from 2430 to 6630 nm. It has two zero-dispersion wavelengths within the span.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Performance evaluation of radio-over-fibre (RoF) system using Mach-Zehnder Modulator (MZM) and on-off keying (OOK) modulation schemes

open access: yes, 2010
This paper investigates the bit error rate (BER) performance of a radio-over-fibre system utilizing binary phase shift keying (BPSK) at radio frequency (RF) of 5 GHz. The RF signal is externally modulated using the Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM).

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

An Empirical Study of Price Dispersion in Homogenous Goods Markets [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents the results of an empirical study of price dispersion in homogeneous goods markets. Modern economic theory suggests that inevitable asymmetries of information in markets lead to an equilibrium in which price dispersion is present even

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

good: An R package for modelling count data

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution
Organisms‐related data often appear as counts. The Poisson distribution is the most popular choice for modelling count data, but this distribution assumes equidispersion, which is usually not satisfied in real‐world data.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...
