Effect of nitrogen over-supply on root structure of common reed

Folia Geobotanica et Phytotaxonomica, 1996
Plants of the common reed (Phragmites australis (Cav. Trin. exSteud.) were treated with high doses of nitrogen in an experiment performed in a sand culture and lasting one vegetation period. Nitrogen treatment resulted in alterations of growth; the increased growth of rhizomes and stalks was connected with production of significantly shorter roots. The

Nitrogen Under‐ and Over‐supply Induces Distinct Protein Responses in Maize Xylem SapF

Journal of Integrative Plant Biology, 2012
AbstractXylem sap primarily transports water and mineral nutrients such as nitrogen (N) from roots to shoots in vascular plants. However, it remains largely unknown how nitrogenous compounds, especially proteins in xylem sap, respond to N under‐ or over‐supply. We found that reducing N supply increased amino‐N percentage of total N in maize (Zea mays L.

Basin‐wide turbidites in a Miocene, over‐supplied deep‐sea plain: a geometrical analysis

Sedimentology, 1980
ABSTRACTEighteen stratigraphic sections, 200 m thick on average, were logged in basin plain deposits of the Marnoso‐arenacea Formation (Miocene, northern Apennines) over an area of 123 × 27 km. Turbidites form 80–90% of the facies association, hemipelagites the remainder.

Arabidopsis under ammonium over-supply: Characteristics of ammonium toxicity in relation to the activity of ammonium transporters

Pedosphere, 2020
Abstract Because of highly intensive farming practices, crop plants could suffer relatively long terms of ammonium (NH+4) excess stress introduced by overdose application of nitrogen fertilizers. However, the lack of sufficient understanding of plant responses to NH+4 excess stress impairs the detection of effective solutions to this problem.

Drivers of carbon isotopic fractionation in a coral reef lagoon: Predominance of demand over supply

Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 2015
Abstract The carbon isotopic signature (δ13C) of coral skeletons is influenced by isotopic fractionation (eorg) during photosynthetic dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) fixation, but only a few direct eorg measurements are available in coral communities. In particular, observations of eorg at the ecosystem scale are lacking.

A generic analytical target cascading optimization system for decentralized supply chain configuration over supply chain grid

International Journal of Production Economics, 2010
Abstract While centralized supply chain configuration (SCC) adopts an integrated decision model solved by an all-in-one decision method, decentralized SCC normally allows constituent enterprises to employ distributed decision models which are coordinated through a decomposition method to achieve an overall solution.
