Multiple model approach to over-the-horizon radar tracking
2017 20th International Conference on Information Fusion (Fusion), 2017For the over-the-horizon radar (OTHR) based target tracking, the reflecting height of the ionosphere, which reflects radar signals, is important. Existing methods assume that this height is exactly known a priori. In practice, however, we can only determine its range, not its specific value.

Receive Arrays for Polar Over-the-Horizon Radar
2020 IEEE International Radar Conference (RADAR), 2020Receive array design for Polar Over-the-Horizon Radar is driven primarily by the need to mitigate auroral radar clutter that appears at all azimuth angles. Arrays must be adequate to enable the detection and location of targets in the presence of this clutter.

Over the horizon radar down-under
2015 IEEE Radar Conference (RadarCon), 2015Since the earliest days of military radar application Australia has had a vibrant radar research community, principally in government laboratories. From the 1960's researchers, benefitting from earlier experiments on HF radar detection of missiles, began to plan and implement over-the-horizon radar systems designed for defence surveillance off the ...

Antenna Measurement Drone for Over-the-Horizon Radar
2021 15th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), 2021An antenna measurement drone was recently integrated by Defence Research and Development Canada to verify the performance of an over-the-horizon radar (OTHR) transmit array. This solution only uses off-the-shelf components and is very economical compared to alternative options.

Statistical signal processing for application to over-the-horizon radar
Proceedings of ICASSP '94. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2002A review of recent developments in statistical signal processing for application to over-the-horizon radar (OTHR) is presented. Three different signal processing issues are considered. The first two issues relate to the radar interference characterisation, namely a Gaussianity test and a K-distribution test.

Time Reversed Over-The-Horizon Radar
2011Time reversal can play a significant role in improving the performance of current sky-wave high-frequency over-the-horizon-radar (HF OTHR), especially with respect to real-time monitoring and compensation of ionospheric turbulence. Also, multipath interference arising from an HF OTHR environment can significantly increase resolution and the signal-to ...

In-service enhancements of the Jindalee over-the-horizon radars
2008 International Conference on Radar, 2008The Australian over-the-horizon radar network is undergoing a series of evolutionary enhancements primarily based on software and general purpose computing upgrades. This upgrade process is particularly unique in the degree of performance improvement being made available to the radars after they are operational, and continues a long history of ...

DETECTION OF AIRCRAFT USING OVER-THE-HORIZON RADAR
1967Abstract : Tracking of an aircraft flying at an altitude of 100 ft above the sea was accomplished over a radial range interval ranging from 1400 to 1000 naut mi by using the Project MADRE radar. Simultaneous tracking, over part of this range interval, of another aircraft at 10,000 ft illustrates the target altitude independence characteristic of over ...
