System-Based Testing of Protection for Center-Tapped Shunt Capacitor Banks

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In power systems, capacitor banks play a significant role in improving voltage profiles, reducing losses, and adjusting power factors. Security measures must be implemented quickly and reliably to protect them from a wide range of threats.

Flexible protection architectures using distributed optical sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper we describe recent developments in flexible protection schemes that make use of passive fibre Bragg grating (FBG) based transducers for the distributed measurement of voltage and current.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Impact of marine power system architectures on IFEP vessel availability and survivability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In recent years integrated full electric propulsion (IFEP) has become a popular power system concept within the marine community, both for the naval and the commercial community.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Voltage distribution of a wind turbine transformer under direct lightning strike: effects of the grounding of cable shield [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we consider wind energy generators as tall structures, thus the reflections of the current of a direct lightning strike, at various interfaces, have been included in the computational model.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

NONLINEAR OVERVOLTAGE LIMITER APPLICATION FOR INTERNAL OVER-VOLTAGE PROTECTION IN AVERAGE VOLTAGE NETWORKS

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений и энергетических объединенний СНГ: Энергетика, 2005
Review of internal over-voltages in distribution networks 6…10 kV and means of their limitation has been carried out. One of the most efficient remedy for reduction of over-voltage at arcing ground is resistive neutral grounding.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...
