Numerical Simulation of Self-Propelled Dive Motion of a Virtual Mooring Buoy

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
To verify the feasibility of the variable wing actuator for a virtual mooring buoy, this paper investigates the self-propelled dive motion of a virtual mooring buoy under hydrostatic variable density conditions using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD ...

Two Dimensional Simulation of Laminar Flow Around Two Bodies in Relative Motion [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2012
In this paper an efficient dual time implicit approach is used to solve viscous laminar flow around two bodies with general motion. Therefore, the grid includes a background grid and two sets of grids around the moving bodies.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Uncertainty Analysis and Maneuver Simulation of Standard Ship Model

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Maneuver simulation of a standard ship model gives indication of numerical accuracy. In the numerical calculation of ship maneuvering, uncertainty analysis is a necessary step to ensure the accuracy of the calculation.

Multi-Size-Mesh, Multi-Time-Step Algorithm for Noise Computation on Curvilinear Meshes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Aeroacoustic problems are often multi-scale and a zonal refinement technique is thus desirable to reduce computational effort while preserving low dissipation and low dispersion errors from the numerical scheme.

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

A 2-D Navier-Stokes Solution Method With Overset Moving Grids

open access: yes, 1996
A simple, robust numerical algorithm to localize moving boundary points and to interpolate uniteady solution variables across 2-D, arbitrarily overset computational grids is presented. Overset grids are allowed to move in time relative to each other. The

Improving the Robustness of Visual Teach‐and‐Repeat Navigation Using Drift Error Correction and Event‐Based Vision for Low‐Light Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Visual teach‐and‐repeat (VTR) navigation allows robots to learn and follow routes without building a full metric map. We show that navigation accuracy for VTR can be improved by integrating a topological map with error‐drift correction based on stereo vision.

Two-dimensional unsteady Navier-Stokes solution method with moving overset grids

open access: yes, 1997
A simple numerical algorithm to localize intergrid boundary points and to interpolate unsteady solution variables across two-dimensional, structured overset grids is presented. Overset grids are allowed to move in time relative to each other.

Code to Code Comparison of Aircraft-Mode Tilt-Rotor Aerodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A global comparison of several blind-test numerical predictions of the aerodynamic field around the Erica model in aircraft mode, carried out by some Partners of the NICETRIP consortium, is presented.
