Long term effect of Ovum Pick-up in buffalo species
Animal Reproduction Science, 2011The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of an Ovum Pick-up (OPU) treatment carried out for 9 months in buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) species. Eight pluriparous non-lactating buffalo cows underwent OPU for 9 months. Recovered cumulus enclosed oocytes (COCs) were classified and COCs suitable for in vitro embryo production (IVEP) were in vitro ...

Follicular wave synchronization prior to ovum pick-up
Theriogenology, 2020Among the reproductive biotechnologies, in vitro embryo production (IVEP) is an important tool for multiplying genetic material of superior merit. Recently, the number of embryos produced and transferred in vitro became significantly higher than that produced in vivo worldwide.

Artificial ovum pick‐up chamber
Makromolekulare Chemie. Macromolecular Symposia, 1988AbstractAn artificial implantable ovum pick‐up and transfer chamber was developed for a treatment of patients suffering from infertility caused by tubal defects. The first chamber prototypes were made of Cardiomat 610 polyetherurethane using a dipping technique.

Ovum Pick-Up (OPU) in Cattle: An Update
2020The technique of ultrasound-guided transvaginal follicular aspiration for ovum pick-up (OPU) is a non-invasive procedure for recovering oocytes from antral follicles in live animals, especially in cows and mares. It was originally developed for assisted reproduction in the human species to assist infertility and was used for the first time in cattle in

Potential use of ovum pick-up for embryo production and breeding in cattle
Theriogenology, 1994The efficacy of transvaginal ultrasound-guided puncturing of ovarian follicles for collecting immature oocytes in cattle was studied. Three experiments were conducted to examine the effects of puncturing on follicle recruitment and on the number of oocytes collected.

159 TECHNIQUES FOR OVUM PICK-UP IN GONADOTROPIN-TREATED ALPACAS
Reproduction, Fertility and Development, 2007The objective of the present study was to evaluate the quantity and quality of oocytes collected when using 2 methods for ovum pick-up and 2 different regimens for ovarian stimulation in live alpaca donors. Thirty-four non-pregnant female alpacas of 3 to 5 years of age maintained at 4100 m elevation in southern Peru were randomly distributed into 4 ...

Repeated ovum pick up in Italian buffalo cows
1996The potential of the ovum pick-up technique, used over a long period, was evaluated in 6 Italian Mediterranean buffalo cows that had more than 500 d open. The cows were submitted to ovum pick-up twice weekly for 2 mo. An additional 2-mo cycle of ovum pick-up was performed in 3 of the buffalo.
