Oxaloacetic acid tautomeric and hydrated forms in solution

open access: closedBiochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1972
Summary The proportions of keto-, enol- and hydrated forms of oxaloacetate in solution have been investigated in stopped-flow studies with malate dehydrogenase. At pH 7.4, 74.3% is keto-oxaloacetate, 17.8% is enol-oxaloacetate and 7.8% 2, 2-dihydroxysuccinate (the hydrated gem -diol).

[Effect of oxaloacetic acid on hydrogen-calcium metabolism in mitochondria].

open access: closedBiofizika, 1987
It has been shown by using o-phthalic acid--a concurrent inhibitor of the transport of oxalacetic acid in mitochondria that the effect of the latter on the mechanism of 2H+/Ca2+-metabolism is realized at the inner side of the inner mitochondrial membrane.

Metal-ion catalyzed decarboxylation of oxaloacetic acid

Journal of the Chemical Society, Faraday Transactions 1: Physical Chemistry in Condensed Phases, 1973
Decarboxylation of oxaloacetic acid is accelerated by hydrated metal ions. The thermodynamic data of activation ΔG[graphic omitted], ΔH[graphic omitted] and ΔS[graphic omitted] for the rate-determining process were determined. The main species involved in autodecarboxylation was identified as univalent hydrogen oxaloacetate anion.

Synthesis, storage, and stability of [4-14C]oxaloacetic acid

Analytical Biochemistry, 1985
A simple procedure for preparing [4-14C]oxaloacetic acid based on the reaction between [14C]HCO-3 and phosphoenolpyruvate catalyzed by phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase is described. A simple method for preparing highly purified phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase from maize leaves is described and the degradation of oxaloacetate under conditions of varying ...
