Dose‐dependent induction of epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in 3D melanoma models by non‐thermal plasma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Non‐thermal plasma treatment of melanoma cells induced epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in a dose‐dependent fashion. This report highlights the critical need to further investigate potential adverse effects of non‐thermal plasma for cancer therapy and to optimize treatment parameters for clinical translation. Despite the promising results of non‐

BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

Oxidation Roasting, Gas-based Reduction Followed by Magnetic Separation of a High Phosphorus Iron Ore in Africa

open access: yesKuangchan zonghe liyong
This is an article in the field of metallurgical engineering. In view of the problems of low compressive strength and high reduction temperature in the gas-base reduction of a high-phosphorus iron ore, a new process of oxidation roasting, gas-based ...

Targeting carbonic anhydrase IX/XII prevents the anti‐ferroptotic effect of stromal lactic acid in prostate carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In prostate carcinoma, lactic acid, secreted by highly glycolytic cancer‐associated fibroblasts, is imported into tumor cells through the MCT1 transporter and prevents RSL3 and erastin‐induced ferroptosis (A). Targeting of carbonic anhydrase IX/XII, the main extracellular pH regulators, in tumor and stromal cells reduces microenvironmental acidosis and

Two-dimensional circular platinum nanodendrites toward efficient oxygen reduction reaction and methanol oxidation reaction

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2019
Two-dimensional circular platinum nanodendrites (~13 nm thick, up to 138.8 nm in diameter) were synthesized by chemical reduction of platinum complexes with ascorbic acid in the presence of block copolymer and pre-formed seeds.

Oxidation-reduction properties of glycolate oxidase

open access: yesBiochemistry, 1984
This is the first report of the redox potentials of glycolate oxidase. The pH dependence of the redox behavior as well as the effects of activators and inhibitors was studied. At pH 7.1 in 10 mM imidazole-chloride, Eo1' (EF1ox/EF1-.) is -0.033 +/- 0.010 V and Eo2' (EF1-./EF1redH-) is -0.017 +/- 0.017 V vs.
