Kinetics and mechanism of As2S2 oxidation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2005
The kinetics of realgar (As2S2) oxidation was studied under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions. The obtained values of the activation energy indicate that the process occurs in the kinetic domainwith the realgar particles being converted to As2O3 ...

KINETICS OF THE OXIDATION OF VITAMIN C

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Chemistry, 2012
Vitamin C or ascorbic acid is needed by the human body but it is already damaged by the rise in temperature due to be oxidized to L-dehydroascorbic acid.

Accelerating moderately stiff chemical kinetics in reactive-flow simulations using GPUs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The chemical kinetics ODEs arising from operator-split reactive-flow simulations were solved on GPUs using explicit integration algorithms. Nonstiff chemical kinetics of a hydrogen oxidation mechanism (9 species and 38 irreversible reactions) were ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

The Influence of Nicraly Coatings Roughness on Oxidation Kinetics During Static Oxidation Test at Temperature 1000ºC And 1100ºC / Wpływ Przygotowania Powierzchni Na Kinetykę Utleniania Warstw Typu Nicraly Pod Wpływem Statycznego Utleniania W Temperaturze 1000ºC I 1100ºC

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2015
The article presents the results of research related to the impact of pretreatment plasma sprayed NiCrAlY coating on the kinetics of the oxidation. The analysis covered the shell subjected to thermal spraying.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

High-temperature oxidation kinetics of NiAl single crystal and oxide spallation as a function of crystallographic orientation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Isothermal and cyclic high-temperature oxidation of NiAl single crystal samples are presented. Oxidations have been carried out at 900, 1050, 1100 and 1150 ◦C on (1 0 0) and (1 1 0) oriented surface.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Mechanisms of High Temperature Degradation of Thermal Barrier Coatings. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are crucial for increasing the turbine inlet temperature (and hence efficiency) of gas turbine engines. The thesis describes PhD research aimed at improving understanding of the thermal cycling failure mechanisms of ...
