Gray water treatment by a oxidation pond
屋外に作成した幅4m長さ8m深さ0.92mの実験池を用い, 小型酸化池における藻類による酸素供給について検討を加えた。供給水としては実際の雑排水に代わって, 人工下水を用いた。平均滞留時間を4.4, 8.9, 13.4, 18.0日まで4段階に変えて, 実験を行い, 結果を定常状態を仮定した数理モデルにより解析し, 次の結論を得た。1) 藻類による酸素供給は水深, 滞留時間にはあまり影響されず, 単位面積当りの栄養塩供給量により決定される。2) 藻類による酸素供給は面積当り最大10~15 [g/ (m2day)] 程度と推定される。3) 雑排水を水深1mの酸化池で処理しようとした場合, 10日程度の滞留時間が適当と考えられた。

Oxygen Supply in a Small Oxidation Pond
生活雑排水の処理を目的とした小型酸化池における酸素の収支について, 数理モデルを用いて検討を行った。本数理モデルにおいては, 植物プランクトンの光合成速度に及ぼす光強度の影響, 植物プランクトン自体による光の遮りの影響, 植物プランクトンの沈降, 垂直方向の混合拡散, 水面を通じての大気との酸素の交換, また, 底生微生物による酸素の消費を考慮している。小型実験池における溶存酸素濃度の垂直分布の日周変動を利用して, 数理モデルの妥当性について検討した。最後に, パラメータ感度解析を行うことにより, 酸素供給に最も効果的な水深について考察したが, 水深約1mとした場合に酸素供給が最も効率的になることを明らかとした。
