Reactivity of copper manganese oxides

Solid State Ionics, 1988
Abstract The reactivity of amorphous copper manganese oxides (Hopcalite) with respect to thermal treatments has been investigated. This system shows complex bulk and surface changes upon heating in vacuum, air, oxygen and carbon monoxide. The mixed valent oxide changes oxidation states in general accordance with the redox controlled charge exchange ...

Surface Reactivity of Oxides

1993
Considerations on the factors governing selectivity in different kinds of oxidation reactions of hydrocarbons and small oxygenated compounds are proposed. Among them the surface crystal field displayed by a catalyst, depending on its structure and on crystal morphology, is shown to be the primary factor.

Reactivity and mechanisms of metalloporphyrin-catalyzed oxidations

Journal of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines, 2000
Effective systems for the catalytic oxygenation of hydrocarbons have been developed based on metalloporphyrins containing iron, manganese and ruthenium. These metalloporphyrin catalysts were inspired by studies of the mechanism of the heme oxygenase cytochrome P450 and related enzymes.

Structure and reactivity of nitroso oxides

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 1991
The presence of nitroso oxide intermediates has been studied in the photooxidation of phenyl azide. The hydroxylation of benzenes occurred and was accelerated by electron-donating groups. Sulfides were oxidized to sulfoxides, but the oxygenation and deoxygenation of sulfoxides proceeded concurrently; these reactions were facilitated by electron ...

Reactive atmosphere processing of oxides

Materials Research Bulletin, 1981
Abstract Concepts of reactive atmosphere process (RAP) are extended to the cleanup of OH − impurities in Ln 2 O 3 . Chlorine is unsuitable as this halogen converts Ln 2 O 3 to LnOCl quantitatively. Iodine is shown to be suitable for OH − impurity cleanup of Ln 2 O 3 .

The reactivity of oxides with water vapor

Solid State Ionics, 1989
Abstract A Tian-Calvet microcalorimeter has been used to determine the heat of interaction of water vapor with a range of oxides at 303 K. New data for SiO 2 , TiO 2 , ZnAl 2 O 4 and CaO are reported which, together with already established results for Al 2 O 3 , enable an overall view to be given of the hydrophilic behavior of oxides. The change of

Production and Utilization of Reactive Oxidants by Neutrophils

1985
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the production and utilization of reactive oxidants by Neutrophils. Neutrophils are phagocytic cells whose principal function is the identification and destruction of invading microorganisms. These organisms, which in general are much smaller than the neutrophil, are ingested by the phagocyte, which ...
