Analysis on effect of separation and purification of glycoprotein extracted from Camellia seeds and its functional activity as basis for the economic development of Camellia oleifera industry

open access: yesActa Universitatis Cibiniensis. Series E: Food Technology, 2016
Taking Camellia oleifera seeds as raw materials, this study explored extraction and purification of glycoprotein separated from Camellia seeds as well as its antitumor activity, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the economic development of ...

Modified ferritic iron alloys with improved high-temperature mechanical properties and oxidation resistance [PDF]

open access: yes
An alloy modification program was conducted in which the compositions of two existing Fe-Cr-Al alloys (Armco 18SR and GE-1541) were changed to achieve either improved high-temperature strength or improved fabricability.

Mechanism of Resistance to Oxidative Stress in Doxorubicin Resistant Cells.

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2001
Doxorubicin (DOX) is an anthracycline drug widely used in chemotherapy for cancer patients, but it often gives rise to multidrug resistance in cancer cells. The purpose of this work was to study the effect of hydrogen peroxide in DOX-sensitive mouse P388/S leukemia cells and in the DOX-resistant cell line.

A subset of MMR‐proficient colon cancers responds to neoadjuvant immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tan et al. reveal that a distinct subset of early‐stage pMMR colon cancers can respond to neoadjuvant immunotherapy. In the NICHE‐2 trial, responders (26%) were characterized by chromosomal instability, TP53 mutations, and proliferative cell‐cycle programs, whereas nonresponders showed metabolic and stromal reprogramming with TGF‐β‐driven ...

Effect of loach paste on the liver and immune organs of D-galactose-induced ageing mice

open access: yesFood and Agricultural Immunology, 2018
We examined the effects of loach paste (LP) on liver and immune organs of d-galactose (DG)-induced aging mice. The results showed that LP can alleviate the atrophy of spleen and thymus, and restore the blood glucose levels. LP was particularly beneficial

Auger electron spectroscopy study of oxidation of a PdCr alloy used for high-temperature sensors [PDF]

open access: yes
A Pd-13 wt. percent Cr solid solution is a promising high-temperature strain gage alloy. In bulk form it has a number of properties that are desirable in a resistance strain gage material, such as a linear electrical resistance versus temperature curve ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Thermal fatigue and oxidation data on TAZ-8A, MAR-M 200, and Udimet 700 superalloys [PDF]

open access: yes
The fluidized bed technique was used to determine the relative thermal fatigue and oxidation resistance of three superalloys: TAZ-8A, Mar-M 200, and Udimet 700. The alloys TAZ-8A and MAR-M 200 were also tested in the directionally-solidified form.

Tantalum modified ferritic iron base alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Strong ferritic alloys of the Fe-CR-Al type containing 0.4% to 2% tantalum were developed. These alloys have improved fabricability without sacrificing high temperature strength and oxidation resistance in the 800 C (1475 F) to 1040 C (1900 F ...
