Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Trimethylolpropane Esters via Guanidine Carbonate-Catalyzed Transesterification of Sunflower Oil Methyl Esters

open access: yesLubricants
This study investigates the synthesis and physicochemical characterization of biolubricant base oils derived from sunflower oil methyl esters (SUNOMEs) via transesterification with trimethylolpropane (TMP) using guanidine carbonate (GNDC) as a green and ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Insights into the Stability and Lipid Oxidation of Water-in-Oil High Internal Phase Emulsions: Roles of the Concentration of the Emulsifier, Aqueous Phase, and NaCl

open access: yesFoods
Water-in-Oil high internal phase emulsions (W/O HIPEs) have great potential in developing novel healthy food products. However, the high content of the aqueous phase poses great risks in physical stability and lipid oxidation.

Supramolecular Carotenoid Complexes of Enhanced Solubility and Stability—The Way of Bioavailability Improvement

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Carotenoids are natural dyes and antioxidants widely used in food processing and in therapeutic formulations. However, their practical application is restricted by their high sensitivity to external factors such as heat, light, oxygen, metal ions and ...

Oxidation effects on graded porous silicon anti-reflection coatings

open access: yes, 2012
Efficient anti-reflection coatings (ARC) improve the light collection and thereby increase the current output of solar cells. By simple electrochemical etching of the Si wafer, porous silicon (PS) layers with excellent broadband anti-reflection ...

Antimony-doped graphene nanoplatelets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Heteroatom doping into the graphitic frameworks have been intensively studied for the development of metal-free electrocatalysts. However, the choice of heteroatoms is limited to non-metallic elements and heteroatom-doped graphitic materials do not ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Evaluation of Oxidation Stability of Organic and Conventional Hazelnut Oils

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences
In this study, the oxidation stabilities of organic hazelnut oils (OHO) were compared to conventional hazelnut oils (CHO). For this purpose, oxidation parameters such as peroxide value (PV), free fatty acid (FFA), anisidine value (AV), volatile lipid ...

Grape seed oil supplementation in lamb diet: effect on meat oxidation stability and muscle fatty acids

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2019
The effect of grape seed oil (GSO) on the animal performance, blood metabolites, meat oxidation stability and muscle fatty acids of lambs was evaluated. Eighteen Baluchi lambs, 196 ± 14 days of age and 39.8 ± 1.7 kg body weight were randomly allocated to
