Ozone was injected into a coal-water suspension, and an HRTEM test was carried out on the separated oxidation products. The results show that from the perspective of visualization the macromolecular network structure of coal contains a large number of graphite-like structures.

石炭の酸化に関する研究は石炭の化学構造を明らかにすると共に酸化生成物を化学工業原料にしようとする点でこれまで大きな貢献をなしてきた。本報は石炭の酸化に関する最近までの知見をごく簡単に最り纒めたもので, 主として石炭の酸化崩壊過程, 石炭の化学構造, 石炭より芳香族有機酸の工業的製法に関し著者自身の興味深い見解が示されている。とくに再生フミン酸の化学構造に関し, 1つの構造模型が提出され, その分子量は3, 000~4, 000, 分子式は(C33H24O10N1.5S0.1) x=5~7である。

Coal oxidation and calcium loading on oxidized coal
Abstract A Pittsburgh No. 8 coal, and two IBC (Illinois Basin Coal) 101 and 112 coals were oxidized in a 2 1 Parr Stirred Bench Top Reactor. The oxidation time was varied up to 5 h; the temperature from 150°C to 225°C, the oxygen pressure from 100 to 600 psi, and coal dosage from 15 to 60 g in 600 ml of distilled water.
