従来不確定なものとされているフミソ酸の分子量について再検討するために, まず有機溶媒の氷点降下法について得られる分子量値の意味について考察した。カルボキシル基, 水酸基を持っ芳香族系化合物およびそれらの誘導体をモデル物質とし, これらの化合物による有機溶媒 (P-フェノール, アセトアマイドなど) の氷点降下現象を観察し, ついでフミソ酸およびその誘導体ならびに石炭の溶剤抽出物による氷点降下を測定した。これらの諸実験の結果を総合すると, P-ニトロフェノールの氷点降下より算出されるフミソ酸の分子量 (約300) は, R.'S.Smithらの所説のように, フミン酸が溶媒中で開裂するために得られる過小値であり, 一方アセトアマイド中で得られる分子量 (約500~600) は ...
