Targeting aerobic glycolysis combats tyrosine kinase inhibitor resistance of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represents the predominant form of primary liver cancer and is frequently identified at a late stage, necessitating systemic therapy. However, resistance to first‐line tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapies, such as sorafenib and lenvatinib, remains a significant clinical challenge.

TBCancer: A database for exploring characteristics and functions of tissue‐biased genes in cancer

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
This study defined 10,921 tissue‐biased genes across 54 normal tissues and 41 cancer types. Tumor‐associated tissue‐biased genes exhibit downregulation, mutations, and epigenetic modifications, correlating with poor clinical outcomes. Their inactivation promotes tumorigenesis by enhancing stemness and immune evasion, highlighting their value as ...

Calcium butyrate efficacy in pediatric irritable bowel syndrome: Randomized placebo‐controlled multiomics‐based clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common functional gastrointestinal disorders, and treatment involves nonpharmacological and pharmacological therapies, even if there is no optimal therapy. This randomized, placebo‐controlled, double‐blind trial aimed to evaluate the efficacy of calcium butyrate supplementation in ...

Effects of catechins, resveratrol, silymarin components and some of their conjugates on xanthine oxidase‐catalyzed xanthine and 6‐mercaptopurine oxidation

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 105, Issue 5, Page 2765-2776, 30 March 2025.
Abstract BACKGROUND Over the past two decades, the global incidence of gout has markedly increased, affecting people worldwide. Considering the side effects of xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor drugs (e.g. allopurinol and febuxostat) used in the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout, the potential application of phytochemicals has been widely studied.
