Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.

Diffusion and Spectroscopy of H2 in Myoglobin
The diffusional dynamics and vibrational spectroscopy of molecular hydrogen (H2) in myoglobin (Mb) is characterized. Hydrogen has been implicated in a number of physiologically relevant processes, including cellular aging or inflammation.

In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Acetylene Gas Generating Plant, Beech Grove [PDF]
Wisconsin wasn’t the end of the Brant Brother’s expansion efforts, however. When they sold the Kenosha plant, they used the proceeds to build an acetylene gas generating plant in the Indianapolis suburb of Beech Grove.

Aquaporin‐3 and aquaporin‐5 impact the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma spheroids
Schematic representation of the role of aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) and aquaporin‐5 (AQP5) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Both proteins are upregulated in PDAC and are associated with tumor progression and metastatic potential. Silencing AQP3 or AQP5 in PDAC spheroids results in decreased diameter, area, and overall growth, underscoring their key ...

Sediment oxygen demand and biochemical oxygen demand : patterns of oxygen depletion in tidal creek sites [PDF]
Concerns about low dissolved oxygen levels in New Hanover County, North Carolina tidal creeks resulted in a study measuring rates of oxygen loss as water-column biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5) and sediment oxygen demand (SOD). Selected tidal creek sites
