Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Experimental Investigation of Oxygen Carrier Aided Combustion (OCAC) with Methane and PSA Off-Gas
Oxygen carrier aided combustion (OCAC) is utilized to promote the combustion of relatively stable fuels already in the dense bed of bubbling fluidized beds by adding a new mechanism of fuel conversion, i.e., direct gas–solid reaction between the metal ...

Silk Fibroin Particles as Carriers in the Development of Hemoglobin‐Based Oxygen Carriers
Oxygen therapeutics has a range of applications in transfusion medicine and disease treatment. Synthetic molecules and all‐natural or semisynthetic hemoglobin‐based oxygen carriers (HBOCs) have seen success as potential circulating oxygen carriers ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Study on Preparation of Oxygen Carrier Using Copper Slag as Precursor
Copper slag, an important by-product of the copper smelting process, is mainly composed of 2FeO SiO2, Fe3O4, and SiO2. Due to the sufficient metal oxides, copper slag is regard as a potential oxygen carrier (OC), which can be applied in chemical looping ...

Steel converter slag as an oxygen carrier [PDF]
Thermal conversion of fuels can be used to produce heat and power in addition to chemicals. In order to be aligned with climate targets, it is necessary that such systems do not emit carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.
